Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anybody could help iv had my egg retrieval and i have been given Utrogestan Vaginal capsules. I suffer from severe vaginismus and wanted to know how deep does the capsule need to go in?

Im just worried if they arent going deep enough im using the applicators that come with them.

Thanks in advance

I had these for my latest transfer. My nurse told me to insert them using the applicator as far up as I could, so I probably had then at least 3/4s if not more the length of the applicator. Good luck x

I was told I didn’t have to use the applicator, as sometimes they can cut you (yes the nurse told me that, and I burst into tears and never used one again)

I also used them up the rear passage to calm down my anxiety of using them vaginally .

Do what feels right and don’t stress . The body will absorb what it needs xx

Hi Rosie90 Do not stress if you only manage an inch - you use them at night so you are lying down and as the saying goes the only way is up !Your body will still be able to absorb the medication. Good luckJanet

Suggest you to lie down, take slow deep breaths, relax as much as possible and insert the capsules with the applicator. The applicator is thin and can go in pretty easily but just be as slow as possible when inserting it in. Hope you get on well with it.All the best!

Hi Rosie, I've had vaginismus and vulvodynia so totally sympathise. I found using a bit of water based, unfragranced lubricant on the applicator helps me a bit, I'm hoping that's not a no-no! Hope you're progressing well x
