Pessaries

What have others done in terms of pessaries after FET if you have had plans in the evening such as a wedding or gig? I have these coming up after my next constructed FET and realise I need to take the pessaries twice a day for up to 12 weeks, right in the middle of all my plans this year! I can work around it if I've got accommodation nearby but if not such as a gig then I'm not sure what to do. Is there alternative options? Could I take it the pessaries via rectum or take injections? Or do I just have to cancel plans? Just wondering what others did. Thanks!

Carry on as normal 🥰 set a timer on your phone to remind you, take a pessary in your bag, nip to the loo and put it in. Just make sure you have a pantyliner in your underwear. If you can take that opportunity to sit down at your table for 15-20mins to watch everyone else on the dancefloor. It will all be fine x

I just put them in my handbag and carried on taking them on the usual schedule, sit down for a while after popping them in maybe. After a while I had to switch to rectally due to a bleed and while I didn't relish the thoughts of that, it was way less messy and so glad I did switch. Definitely don't cancel plans, you need to have as much fun as you can during all this, good luck!

i take 400mg cyclogest 3x daily. my clinic said it was fine for me to take all doses rectally (my preference as the booty keeps it IN)

i just keep them in my bag, never in my pocket as they’re sort of balm-y and melt with body heat, which they’re supposed to do in your body i guess but it just makes it unpleasant to squish in

Just go on as normal. When it's time, find a bathroom, pop it in, and carry on enjoying yourself. If you're worried about leakage, bring a pad just in case. If you're at a gig or somewhere tricky, you could ask your clinic if the rectal route is an option for you. But loads of people just make it work as is. Don't stress too much. Hope you have the best time at your events! xx

Depends on brand but Cyclogest is fine to take rectally. You just need to avoid emptying your bowels for an hour after, as absorption a bit slower that way (was the advice I received).

My consultant is a big believer in 'front bum' only, because of the blood supply there. However, their view is really, really uncommon and they're a recurrent loss specialist, rather than a fertility specialist.

That said, I've always followed their advice and just used rectally on the odd occasion when going out etc.

I just did them on the go. Anally if out and about as doesn't leak out. Just make sure you set a timer on your phone so you don't forget! 💕

I went to the rugby World Cup with my prontogest! I was more worried about passing security and the hygiene of the loos but it was fine. Don’t cancel plans - take your meds with you and take the pessaries via the back door. Tahr the others like you would normally!

I just carried on with big plans and still took the medication, I had to delay the evening one a little (popped it in in the car on the way back from a concert once) but I still did my Lubion injection on time in the loo. Did the same for a wedding. Just delayed the pessary a wee bit that day. I was on holiday too in 2 WW and pessary was right at dinner time (my whole family was there and didn’t know about treatment so I couldn’t leave 10’people waiting just for me for dinner lol) so I changed my pessary time for the whole holidays and then changed it back when I got back to the UK. As long as you sit down for a bit or use it rectally and have a panty liner with you you should get most of the pessary in. O matter the setting xx

I don’t really find them to be that problematic. I just wear a panty liner and if I’m half an hour late to put the next one in because I’m not near a loo until then, i don’t stress about it!
