Tomorrow is the transfer (first time icsi) and im suffering from hypothyroidism which was discovered by my consultant. I was 5.7 and after a while on meds down to 1.9. So my dose was fixed on 75 mg.
im currently on progesterone 3 times utrogestan 200 and read that it might interact with my thyroid meds. The clinic doesnt really do my bloods and last time they did it was way before i started my icsi cycle.
Anyone has been in similar situation. Curious to know as i heared being hypo increases risk of not becoming and stying pregnant.
Thank you and sending much love and strength to all going through their own journey x
Hi, I would advise that you ask your GP asap about the plan. Normally when pregnancy is confirmed the dose should be increased by 25mcg straight away. Then the test should be offered within 5-6 weeks check TSH and T4.
I was thinking to rather try the clinic to stay on top of it as it takes ages to get something done at my GP. They just take ages to book you in. Will try both IF it gets so far. Thank you again x
Hi Anna, the hormon released by the thyroid is important for establishing a pregnancy because the embryo needs it but can't produce it yet. The TSH should be below 2.5.
Hi. I have Hashimoto and my tsh was close to the normal upper limit. This was ok as per regular endocrinologist, but too high for ivf and fertility endocrinologist, who required it to be below 2.5. I was put on the minimum dose of 25 mcg and checked after 6 weeks before becoming pregnant and then every 6 weeks. My tsh kept on dropping slightly, but nothing to worry. I also had to take 600 progesterone for more than 2 months (as I had a low progesterone level) and less for 1 - 2 months, but everything was fine with my tsh level.
I am from Romania and protocols might be (slightly) different, but ask the clinic to monitor your tsh, ft3 and ft4.
I have hypothyroidism. Both times when I found out I was pregnant I went straight into have my thyroid tested. Both times my dosage needed to be increased. With my first I was tested every two weeks by my RE and with my second every four weeks.
When I had my levels tested with my first baby I freaked out because it was at 4.3 (after being level for years) and I was sure I was going to lose her after trying for seven years! But everything levelled out with my increased dosage and she is now a thriving four-year-old.
Just stay on top of it and keep having it checked and everything will hopefully be just fine.
