Has anyone had 5 or more transfers and had success?

Hey lovelies,

I just wondered if anyone has had 5 or more transfers and gone on to have success? We’ve used our 4 now from our 1st cycle and although we had a bfp on go 1, it ended in miscarriage.

I feel completely hopeless and feel like it should have worked now! I’m 34 (35 in 6 months) and have had ERA and all sorts of tests. We’ve tweaked the protocol quite a bit and I’m on lubion as well as cyclogest, clexane. We’re still classed as unexplained.

I’m just feeling so low like it’s never going to happen. I feel like it should have worked by now. My BMI has crept up over the past 12 months during all of the rounds and so I feel bloated and unhealthy.

I just need a bit of positivity that there’s still hope and it can happen xx

Hi, my sister in law who was 35 at the time, same sex marriage no known fertility issues got pregnant with twins on 7th transfer. I feel like I've been on and off here for years most have been and left. I remember a scarlet I think on here who got lucky on transfer number 8, I think. I think we tend to see people getting pregnant after a couple of transfers especially on forums I've found but for many women that's not the case. I've transferred 6 from 5 collections so far. Trying to do natural modified 3 collections and freezing embryos to then transfer but its slower than I expected, hoping to start cycle 8 next week. I'm 38 was 35 when I started. I feel for you, I was a size 8 when I started verging on 14 now. Its kicked the absolute life out of me ivf but my choice is to keep going as I feel deep down I can and I will. I think all too often we hear of luck after 2 or 3 rounds or transfers but for many that is not the case but they still go on to have a baby. I've also had all the tests and even went to the greek clinic everyone goes to. All private rounds. I find Instagram helpful as lots of accounts from experienced seasoned ivf, ers, although it can be a bit over positive at times.

It's not just you, I promise. I'm walking the Yorkshire peaks in june with my mate, going to transfer the next one when I'm ready not the fertility clinic. Thinking of you, take care Xx ps in 1982 by mother gave birth to me at 45 naturally but after many many miscarriages.

Thank you so much, you’ve really lifted me. You’re incredible too, and I can tell (without even knowing you!) how strong you are so it will happen.

I’m going to focus the next couple of months back on me and getting fit I think. Will delay my next egg collection until I feel up to it. Have you been doing anything in particular before egg collections? I have coq10 to start this time but not sure it’ll make much difference xx

Thanks love, look after yourself. I take a lorry load, I'm starting to think it doesn't make a massive difference but I carry on. My husband takes a German antioxidant which has helped, sperm count from 6 mill to 37 mil in 2 years, normal dna frag now. I personally think age, moderate diet and moderate lifestyle are best. But saying that as ivf makes logic brains go to mush I take the following, melatonin 3mg, I feel this helps me get grade 1 embryos but still they dont stick. Inositol and folate, zita west, high strengh omega 3, 400mg ubiquinol, d3 high strengh, probiotic 5 billion live culture ones, resveratrol 150 mg daily, imply but at a different time of day from the rest ie 12 hours apart. Take care and best of luck Xx

Hey there. No success yet as well. 4 transfers down. Next step is immune testing and to change clinic. I hope they will tweak something as that will give me some hope. Same as miracleneeded said, sending live and following x x

So sorry for all of the transfers you’ve had to go through without success.

I’ve had three transfers from one cycle, four embryos and our last one ended with a chemical pregnancy. All of our tests so far have been mostly normal. We have male morphology issues which is why we proceeded with ICSI. 7 eggs, 100 percent fertilisation and 6 making it to good blastocysts stage and it’s still not worked for us.

We’ve just had genetic testing with our current clinic, with the purpose of checking for any chromosome abnormalities in either of us that could be passed to the embryo. We are also speaking to two new clinics next week for a second and third opinion.

We’ve two embryos left from our first cycle but we are going to do another egg collection to bank some embryos whilst I’m young (as my AMH is on the lower side for my age).

I’m not ready to give up but the more knocks we have, the harder it is to get back up. But I have faith and hope that this will work because there really isn’t any reason why it wouldn’t!

Have you exhausted all test options? Maybe try a new clinic for a fresh perspective? Could you take some time out to focus on yourself before starting again if that’s what you want to do?

It’s really hard to look after yourself when going through this storm but it’s also so important to put yourself first and look after yourself. Fingers crossed for you 🍀

Hey lovely! I’ve had 8 transfers 5 were chemicals & 2 BFN my 8th was a success and I am currently 33 weeks pregnant.

I was feeling super down after each transfer but some how managed to lift myself up and go over again. I started this journey when I was 23 and I’m now 26 and do so many test and nothing showed anything wrong.

You got this! 😘

I have had 5 transfers (currently on number 5). First didn’t work, second ended in an ectopic, 3rd I tried a short cycle and had 2 low grade embryos which we transferred (a pointless cycle!) and 4th cycle ended in a MMC. This is my 5th cycle, and my first FET. Day 4 post transfer today.

I know long cycles are better for me. I haven’t had any additional tests as they think endometriosis is the problem. We use ICSI as it yields better fertilisation rates and also lubion as I bled early on my first cycle.

If this fails I think we’ll just go for another FET.

I too am 35, just turned. 3 years and counting. I have also gained weight and I am a shell of the person I was. I am tearful, bitter and resentful. But I know I will be a mum-in some form or another and that’s what keeps me going.

I am also on my third clinic.

Thinking of you xxxx

Hi lovely, totally relate we have transfered 5 good embryos, over 3 transfers and 3 rounds of IVF. Next time we are doing the immune protocol, which I'm feeling quite hopeful about. We'll get there in the end I really believe that xx

Catlady12345 in reply to Chel91

Ah good luck, wishing you a positive outcome! What is the immune protocol? Xx

Chel91 profile image
Chel91 in reply to Catlady12345

Thanks hun! Crossing my fingers for you too!! Immune protocol for me is prednisone, clexane, baby aspirin, anti-histimines, intralipids or IVIG and we may also try another immune suppressant drug that I haven't got yet. I got immune blood work done that wasn't normal, ANA+, and some other things are high so it's to counteract that xx

Catlady12345 profile image
Catlady12345 in reply to Chel91

Ah ok, can you get these bloods at the doctors or have to pay privately? Xx

Chel91 profile image
Chel91 in reply to Catlady12345

I'm really not sure what you might be able to get done, for me it has always been like pulling teeth! I'm with a private clinic, and it was only suggested after the 3 failed rounds. Wish I had known about it sooner tbh xx

It took me 3 fresh cycles and 8 transfers and now I have a 14 month old son and he’s worth every single tear drop, injection and pain I’ve had on this journey...so when you’re feeling down and thinking is it ever going to happen, please tell yourself that one day it’ll all be worth it and you’d do it all over again in a heartbeat and this long hard journey you are on will make your baby even more precious and loved and appreciated xxx

Do you get your progesterone levels tested before transfer? This was what got me pregnant after sO many failed attempts and a miscarriage. X

Catlady12345 profile image
Catlady12345 in reply to Scarlett13

I haven’t had them tested before transfer - I will request this next time! Xx

Scarlett13 profile image
Scarlett13 in reply to Catlady12345

Also my clinic found Lubion to be less effective than prontogest and cyclogest x I got switched to prontogest and cyclogest after using lubion several times with low progesterone levels then fell pregnant - read through my posts xxx

fay2399

Have you tried to test them before transferring? Maybe if you test first you know what’s wrong? Your age shouldn’t be issue with eggs ... but to make sure if you have another egg retrieval do genetic testing! Good luck xx

I was diagnosed with adenomyosis after my 4th transfer and 3 miscarriages from natural pregnancy which the doctor thinks is the reason of my miscarriages and the reason why the Embrayo did not implants I was treated for 3 months for the adenomyosis before my 4th cycle which produced 4 eggs 3 day3 Embrayo which I used for mine 5th and 6th transfer I still have 1 Embrayo left I also changed my clinic on this 4th clinic

I’m on my 4th transfer and currently 9 weeks + 6 days with a donor egg from my youngest sister.

During the donor round the recipient does a medicated monitored cycle, it was here that they found that the cyclogest pessaries wasn’t enough so put me on prontogest as well.

During our second round we PGTA tested and our embryos were chromosomally abnormal despite being classed as top quality grading - hence why we decided to use a donor egg.

I’m 41 and my husbands 59. I was 37/38 when we started

Best of luck
