Ladies, I am in complete shock! Is THIS real? ๐Ÿคž It doesn't feel real. I am excited but so worried... Two blue lines?! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™

This month I have been healing up from the barrage of tests and surgeries I had last month...laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, biopsies, scans, blood tests etc... and we were not supposed to have sex. But because my second cycle of IVF was pushed back for a month and I couldn't bare the idea of wasting a month doing nothing ... hubby bought a needless syringe and we used that once this month. It was a hail Mary pass to keep up my mental health and make me feel like we tried and didn't waste a precious month.

My daily bloodtests at my clinic to track my hormones was discontinued as they suspected my hormones were out of wack as my body healed from every last month so this wasn't a good month to monitor. I was disappointed but nothing I could do except wait for my period so we could start again.

When my period was supposed to start (2 weeks ago) I had terrible cramps, a bad head cold, bloating and so, so much wind - I couldn't move without tooting! ๐Ÿ˜ณ I kept expecting the blood...but nothing at all. Horrible cramps for the full week and still no period. I put it down to my body healing from the surgeries and was frustrated my period was taking so long! Frustrated and angry because it was going to push back the start date of my second IVF cycle even more! My breasts were swollen and hurt so I anticipated a bad period. When one of my nipples darkened (only one) I was p*ssed off that I was getting yet another cruddy symptom of my fertility journey. It was only when I was out last night with hubby and I had to run to the bathroom at dinner to throw up that hubby and I wondered if we should test just to rule it out...

So early this morning I took the test. I didn't look at it and made hubby do it as I hate seeing a negative... and then two blue lines! Hubby checked and rechecked the instructions before telling me and showing me! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜†

We are crazy excited but I am so nervous that there will be something wrong!! I am terrified that there is something wrong...and I don't even know what to do?! Do I contact my clinic and tell them? Do I book an appointment with my GP to get a blood test? My head is spinning and all over the place! I've been painting our house and lifting heavy stuff!!! I've been eating comfort food...no pineapple or Brazil nuts! Coffee, fast food, chocolate! ๐Ÿ™„ Where do I even start from here?!

My friend got pregnant naturally after a laparoscopy, she'd been trying for 5 years. Her little girl is now 18 months and she's got a second on the way. Fingers crossed for you that the happiness continues all the way to viability scan x

Thanks so much Zebedee!! I love to hear that your friend was successful! That gives me so much hope! ๐Ÿฅฐ I called the clinic and I will be getting a call back with an appointment for a bloodtest and depending on what that says...a scan. The nurses say that given my last period date I am a little over 6 weeks along! I still can't believe it! The horrible pessimistic person inside of me keeps says that this, was too easy so there will be something wrong because I'm just not that lucky! I so hope that voice is wrong! ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž

I love your story โค congrats! I too got pregnant naturally using an at home IUI syringe, as we were sick of ttc and I didn't want to waste an egg while waiting for a DE transfer. I was equally shocked it worked and couldn't believe my luck. Also wasn't eating anything special, had tons of coffee and even some alcohol. 17 weeks now and still have to pinch myself at times. Good luck at your scan and enjoy the surprise.

Oooo! Congratulations Marisa!!! โคโคโคโคโคโคโคโค I am still in shock! I can't believe a syringe worked! Like you, we were waiting to take the next step! I also didn't want to waste an egg even though I was literally black and blue from surgery and my incisions were inflamed! ๐Ÿ˜ณ I kept thinking what if that was "the egg"? And it has turned out to be! ๐Ÿฅฐ Now hubby has filled the fridge with all the healthy foods he could think of! ๐Ÿ˜… And he is desperately trying to finish off all our home projects...and I'm not allowed to help at all! I could get used to this ๐Ÿคซ๐Ÿ˜†

Big congratulations to you too. Could you kindly explain the IUI needle as I haven't heard it before? Xx

Marisa32 profile image
Marisa32 in reply to Triplets_mom

I used the "Mosie Kit" because it's super comfy to use and the syringe is designed specifically for at home IUI. Apparently those are only sold in the US and a bit expensive to ship elsewhere. I believe some ladies in the UK were able to buy something similar on Amazon. Maybe not as comfy but still gets the job done. If you Google "Mosie Kit", they explain how it all works.

Wow, I love stories like these! Congratulations!!! I would definitely call your GP and fertility doctor to let them know, maybe they can closely monitor you! Best of luck ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ’ซ๐ŸŒˆ

Oh thank you XOXO13! I am still in disbelief!! ๐Ÿฅฐ I called my clinic and they will be calling me back on Monday or Tuesday to arrange blood test and a scan. Depending on what happens there they will see if they closely monitor me or I go the normal pregnancy rout. I am so nervous that something will be wrong!

Keep positive, it sounds like this is your miracle and I hope it continues to be so ๐Ÿ€ I keep praying Iโ€™ll just naturally fall pregnant between IVF cycles so stories like yours keep me hopeful ๐ŸŒˆโ™ฅ๏ธ Xx

When I called the clinic the nurse was happy for me but she told me something very interesting. She said "This happens so much more than you think! All those drugs you take during your cycle have to be doing something because so many clients end up telling us they conceived naturally while waiting to do a transfer".

I was really surprised and she explained that it's not really a statistic that forms part of the reporting process for the clinic but that she takes a call like this at least once a week. So I think that the drugs can reset or overcharge a system. Just never thought it would be me!

Amazing! Congratulations โค๏ธ This happened to me a month after our latest failure after 4 years of trying and 12 months of hell and Iโ€™m now nearly 20 weeks with our surprise miracle. They do happen ๐Ÿ˜ those are lovely lines!

Can you explain a bit more about the syringe you used? x

Belangalo profile image
Belangalo in reply to hoping_for_our_time

Hi hopingforbfp, it was aa cheapie without a needle from the chemist. It wasn't comfortable or specifically designed for insemination ๐Ÿ˜ณ It was something you might use to get a few ml of medicine and squirter in your mouth. It costs 95c. That's why this is so surreal to me.

Thatโ€™s amazing!

Same sort thing happened to me and my husband in regards to shock natural pregnancy with my daughter.

Do not worry! After our second failed cycle me and my husband went to Italy ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น Before starting my next period (the first after the failed ivf) and I cannot tell you what a good time I had drinking as much wine as I wanted eating as much cheese ๐Ÿง€ and cured meats! On our return I was shocked to discover that I was pregnant and my daughter is now a happy healthy 14 month old!

Belangalo profile image
Belangalo in reply to Peepers4444

Thank you so much for telling me this! ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค— I just was not expecting the syringe to work. I did it on day 10 of my cycle and honestly, it was so I "felt" we hadn't wasted a month without trying. I was eating anything and everything I pleased!! When I threw up last night I was eating mushrooms!!!! ๐Ÿ™„ I was just not careful about diet at all!!

Triplets_mom profile image
Triplets_mom in reply to Belangalo

Please, what syringe and how does it work?

Belangalo profile image
Belangalo in reply to Triplets_mom

Hi Triplets_mom, it was just a cheaper needle-less syringe from the chemist. It wasn't comfortable or made for insemination. We did use it quickly though.

Hi,It's not nuts!

A werid thing can happen after a operation, the body or you mentally was thinking about and experiencing a trauma. That's what happened?

Sometimes when a couple buy a dog or you adopt a child you can get pregnant. My friend went most of married life, IVF failed, she got to 46yrs, landed a Director, Partnership, lots of travel abroad. Then she thought was going through menopause, became very tired. Sick on a weekend. Went to doctor! Pregnant!

I'm in a positive frame of mind today but was FREAKING out earlier because my pregnancy symptoms were really strong and then seemed to fade ๐Ÿ˜’ All I want is constant morning sickness! ๐Ÿคฃ I have a few cramps on and off as well as bouts of nausea at odd times now. But I understand that lots of normal pregnancies are like this. Hearing that made me feel better! Hope that you are doing well! ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—

sunset212 profile image
sunset212 in reply to Belangalo

My symptoms waned some days too and I was like g I hope all ok and then a few days later would hit back again! I was told by a MW your hormones are like a wave sometimes rising sometimes stable as hcg is rising again symptoms can be stronger as they are stable for a bit they ease. I have my 12 week NHS scan tomorrow excited Iโ€™ve had a few private ones along the way due to a subchrionic haematoma but baby has thus far been growing well and ahead and Iโ€™m only now feeling less tired and sick. Hope everything goes well for your first trimester too xx
