I am in shock but after 5 failed ivf attempts, a chemical pregnancy two months ago, a test I just done (on day period is due) is positive!! it is faint but definitely there. We thought we would try naturally for a few months b4 embarking on the next round . I have progesterone pessaries left from previous cycles- would u advise starting these today for a bit of extra support? Thank you for your support 😊

Congratulations! The same thing just happened to me - am in total shock and feel very lost compared to the very controlled and prescriptive IVF process. I wasn't one progesterone and found out relatively late (well, in IVF terms). I asked my IVF consultant re progesterone and he said it wasn't necessary as in a natural pregnancy you should produce enough, but as I was spotting he said he had no issue with me taking it if I wanted to. I had my progesterone tested several times and it was very high, even before startingthe progesterone and the spotting only lasted a day or two so I've stopped now and everything seems ok, but I need to wait for another scan to confirm.
Thank you for your response and advice. I have had some brown spotting so have started taking progesterone and will see how it goes. Still seems completely unreal after so long trying to conceive and all the ivf attempts. Going to take one day at a time. Congratulations to you too, I hope it all goes well xx
I don’t have any advice of progesterone but I just wanted to say congratulations. This is amazing news and gives so many of us hope. Wishing you all the best in your pregnancy x
Thank you for your kind words. I know there is a long way to go but am looking at falling naturally as the first hurdle. I am 39 so my next ivf round was likely my last attempt. I really wish you lots of luck in your journey xx
Congratulations! Spotting that early is very common. If you are worried about progesterone levels, are you able to get your GP to test them? Wishing you all the best on your journey x
congratulations! I had several losses (natural and IVF) and when I fell pregnant naturally between rounds the miscarriage clinic advised I take progesterone anyways. So if you think you might need it definitely push even if GP isn’t sure. For my successful pregnancy I took it for the first 16 wks 👍
Congratulation to you all, this is such lovely news and i am hoping to be in the same boat some day. I have had 5 IVF cycles, 4 transfers, 3 BFPs but 2 MC and 1 beautiful daughter. Id love a sibling for her but it will have to be through the good old fashioned way as my husband wont do any more IVF.
Did you do anything different that may have led to your success story? x
