I have started taking the Cyclogest pessaries this morning and on my last cycle I found using them rectally caused me less irritation than vaginally and my nurse said it was ok to do this again but I’ve read the leaflet that comes with them and it specifically says that they must be used vaginally for fertility treatment but can be used rectally for other reasons, is this new as I don’t remember reading that last time?

I did read this when doing my cycle but the clinic had told me either way was ok so I went with their advice, alongside knowing lots of ladies on the forum had done it the back way with no issues! Having said that I didn't have my levels checked but did have a successful transfer and am currently 14 weeks so assuming it was ok. Sending lots of luck your way 😊 xx

I also read this, but asked my clinic if I could use rectally and she said it was fine. I'll be 12weeks pregnant on Monday, so all must have been OK. Xx

Thank you PurplePiggie & Melonay1987 I used rectally with my last successful cycle but not until I was around 6 weeks pregnant and had no problems but found it so much easier so wanted to do it from the start this time but got a bit worried when I read that, when I asked the nurse at my last scan before I had read that she said it was fine so it must make no difference, good luck with the rest of your pregnancies 😊 xx

I was using these pessaries rectally after my IVF in December and I am now 21 weeks pregnant, so it was pretty recent, maybe you should just double check with your clinic, they may have their reasons X

I spoke with a nurse at my lining scan and she said you could do rectally, it’s the leaflet in with the medication that states not to and I don’t remember it stating that the last time I was taking them, I’m just going to stick with the same routine I did last time and use them vaginally until confirmed pregnancy and then will change if successful, it worked having my little boy so will stick with that, good luck with the rest of your pregnancy 💗 x

That's good that you have some clarification and now you can make a choice for whatever you feel comfortable with :-) good luck X x

I did too but I did have my levels checked on day of transfer and they were low and I had to add in a prontogest injection every other day. Don’t think this is necessarily anything to do with the Cyclogest application though! X

Thank you. Have you tried asking them? I find persistence can often be key with IVF clinics 😉x

It says the same on my cyclogest leaflet. I would check with the clinic again.

Good luck!
