Go for Fresh IVF or FET cycle

I did IVF in 2017 had 8 embryos 5 days blast. First FET in 2017 failed . 2nd FET in 2018 resulted in beautiful baby boy . I wanted to give my child another sibling. I am 34 years old . I have endometriosis stage 4. I went for two FET cycles. One in Feb and one in March this year. Both failed. The cost of failed FET cycle and living in different country is expensive. I can’t transfer my embryos as no clinic in my state will do this . I have 4 more embryos left . Should I go for more FET cycles or go back to my country and start fresh IVF ? Also since i conceived with first few months of initial IVF process . May be the stims helped . Should I go for fresh IVF cycle ? My doctor says it’s matter of one embryo that sticks . It doesn’t matter fresh cycles or number of Fets . Any suggestions?

Hey Guidingangel,

I can see the dilemma and it is such a shame that you cannot have your embryos transferred. Also, I can relate to your thinking that each failed cycle is a waste of money. This is compounded by the costs of having to do your cycles in a different country

When I read your post, a couple of things struck me. First is if you go back to your country what will happen to your 4 remaining embryos? A fresh cycle will create even more. Have you considered this? There will also be costs to freezing excess embryos unless you donate them.

You’ve had a successful frozen transfer so there is nothing to say it can’t be successful again. Also, you are thinking about the 2 options you’ve laid out but have you considered a 3rd? Exploring having 2 embryos transferred to increase your chances. You’ve had failed implants so your doctor may be open to it even though you are less than 38 years of age.

It is all obviously completely up to you. One of the things I’ve learned with IVF is that it is not an exact science and all you can do is make the best decision with all of the information available to you at the time and hope for the best.

All the best 🙏🏾💫

Thank you for understanding my situation. I am going to ask about 2 embryos transfer in my review meeting. This is so hard .

Yes it is hard- the doctor may disagree and then you may be back to square one. I feel for you and I am hoping it goes well.

Remember you have one child already, this is a blessing- it is also highly likely you will have a second. Your first cycle was a huge success with your baby boy and the number of good embryos created. I think it is just a matter of time.

Sending lots of positive vibes your way 🌈

I would ask to have more embryos transfer each time and use the embryos you already have xxx it will work again at some point I hope. Keep the faith xxx
