So I had a scan today I am 7 weeks 1 day and I had bleeding on 6 weeks 6 days still do on and off. So at the scan today baby was fine but the sonography ray pointed out where the blood was coming from
And said it is hematoma which I have never heard of she said heartbeat and baby measuring fine but just concern is that how big that hematoma it measured 28 X 35 X 19mm is so she said that’s the reason for me bleeding. She said she is not sure what caused it but said I will keep bleeding till it decides to go away. I had a 3 day transfer via IVF and on lubion progesterone injections once a day only. I wonder if this is linked to progesterone or whether of I need to up the progesterone. Please could anyone advice with an similar experience thank you so much.

It’s very common in ivf pregnancies. They don’t know what causes it. No need to stop progesterone. It can also be a threatened miscarriage (I don’t say this to scare you). I also had a SH and I took it easy and didn’t put myself out too much.
Hi, I had a hematoma in my previous pregnancy- I think it’s sort of like a bruise . It’s horrible having the bleeding/spotting. I was told to rest as much as possible too. It’s a separate issue to those progesterone related. Hope you can take it steady and rest up xx
I had a hematoma but was large and sadly lost the pregnancy. It’s nothing to do with progesterone. Please rest and don’t walk around to much as it can get bigger. It can also go but plenty of bed rest xxx
Thank you ladies this is very helpful to know. I will speak to my gp tomorrow to get signed off work for few weeks so I have complete rest and no stress.
I had one and the bleeding didn’t stop until 10 weeks. It was very scary! I had 2 episodes of horrific clots and bright red blood as well as the daily bleeding. The bleeding started to go darker brown and get lighter and the nurses said that was a good sign as it was old blood and hopefully healing. The told me to rest as the SCH can increase risk of miscarriage so I took a few weeks off work (never been off sick before!) they also scanned me every week. At 8 week scan I was still bleeding but they could no longer see it (it was very obvious in the other scans, as big as the baby sac).
Feel free to have a look at my posts as I got some really helpful replies in those form the ladies on here that helped me a lot! I’m now currently 38 weeks pregnant with that pregnancy and had no bleeding since. It defo isn’t progesterone related and in fact I upped my pessaries as I wasn’t sure with all the blood how much was getting through!
I was told the hematoma is caused when part of the placenta detaches from the uterine wall and a clot of blood/bruise forms in that space. They have no idea why that happens sometimes or why it is more common in IVF pregnancies but it statistically is but they reassured me it was nothing I had done or that any of my meds would make a difference to. They only thing they mentioned was blood thinners/aspirin to be stopped but I wasn’t on those anyway.
I had a subchorionic haematoma at pretty much exactly the same stage. It was very worrying but just wanted to let you know that it healed over time and the pregnancy was successful. The consultant I saw at the EPU said it was as though the baby’s placenta had “bitten me” in the process of attaching. Best of luck to you xx
Thank you for your replies I am really scared as the sonographer said it is big anc bigger than baby sac etc and it was above the baby sac too. Where was yours located as that will be helpful to know. Do you think it’s a good idea to get scanned again in two weeks time ? Any advice would be helpful
