A wee update on my scan today after my bleeding since my positive test.
Last night my bleeding got really heavy and red and I passed a few clots. I almost never bothered going to the scan today as I assumed it was over. however I did as I was worried about ectopic etc. On the scan they could see the sac and the yolk (I’m 5 +5 and doctor said that’s all she would expect to see at this stage?)
She also found a hematoma that is likely cause of the spotting and last nights big bleed. It looked about the same size, if not bigger, than the sac (to me). She showed me how it was close to my cervix too (although cervix was closed). She said some other things I can’t really remember which all sounded a bit scary (I really wish partners were allowed in!). I have to say though they were lovely.
Doctor said it could go either way at this early stage and to come back next week for another scan (or to phone if bleeding gets heavier again).
I had zero hope this morning and now I am clinging to the tiniest amount with everything I got! 🙈
Thank you all for your kind words and support! I think I would have lost my marbles so far without it 💜 xx

Hi Twiglet. Oh dear! This can happen as the chorionic villii changes and bleeding can occur. They will keep an eye on things, and fingers crossed all will settle back down. Thinking of you. Diane into the placenta
My sister in law had a huge synchronic haematoma show up on early scans. But she just passed the 12 week mark and all is going well. I can’t imagine the anxiety you have right now but rest rest rest all you can and keep your hopes up! Fingers crossed for you.
This is exactly what I am going through Twiglet. My consultant told me though that new research shows an sch does not increase chances of miscarriage. Also, yes at 5+5 it is hard to see the foetus but excellent that the yolk sac could be visualised. Xxxxxx
Yeah I think I am a week behind you in this crazy journey! Oh thats interesting everything I have read says it does so that good news! We will see what next week brings 🤗💕 xx
Just a little success story for you lovely, I had a fairly big SCH that was active from 5 weeks to 10 weeks, it bled a lot and I had lots of scans to keep an eye on things. Baby is now a happy, boisterous 7 month old whirlwind. Best of luck x
I was waiting for your update and I am glad they could see something on the scan, I really hope everything goes smoothly for you from now on. I can’t get in for a scan till next week but it gives me hope to see your post. Xx
Aww Georgie i know how you must be feeling, the limbo is so difficult! I think we just have to hold onto hope whilst it’s there 🤗 what day is your scan? How far along are you now? They said they only scanned me because my HCG levels were at a point they thought they might see something xx
I am being hopeful. Scan is on 2nd. I am 5 weeks 6 days today and keeping everything crossed. I am pleased for you and I hope I’ll be able to share good news too next week xx
Oh gosh how stressful for you but so so pleased the could see the yolk and the sac and can see the cause of the bleed - not long now until your viability scan - keeping everything crossed for you xxxx
What a worrying time for you both. Sounds like there is still hope & lots of positive stories on here.
It is such an awful time just waiting, my last pregnancy ended badly & am so worried about this one too. Guess we just have to pull our positive pants on & tell ourselves ‘we got this’ 💪
You are absolutely right 🤗 I’m trying not to worry as much now but next Wednesday does feel so far away!! Hoping everything goes really smoothly for you this time 💕 xxx
Aww I don’t have any experience of this but just wanted to say I hope everything works out and I’ll keep everything crossed for you.. take care and have lots of rest Xx
That must be very stressful for you, but at least you have a cause of the bleeding. I had a very small one in the early days of pregnancy and at my scan was told it can often be absorbed by the placenta as it grows. I have every hope yours will do the same. When is your next scan?
Thanks Lynn, hopefully it sorts itself out but the doctor did seem quite worried 😦 next scan on Wednesday the 3rd (which feels like an eternity away 😂) Xx
Glad to hear all is ok with the pregnancy. Hopefully the haematoma with resolved itself and the bleeding will settle!! Fab news, take it easy meantime.xx
Thanks, the doctor was still quite worried and cautious and said only time will tell if the pregnancy will continue but at least there is still some hope, which I thought had completely gone! Xx
I had a huge bleed from wk 6-14 which bled bright red everyday, my little boy turns 1 in a couple of weeks. It was a terrifying time when it was happening and although the rest of my pregnancy wasn’t straight forward, we made it.
Bleeding through pregnancy is more common than is actually made out. Fingers crossed for a positive outcome 🤞🏻 Take things easy if you can. Xx
Oh my goodness! That’s a lot of bleeding and worry you must have went through. What a special little guy you have 🤗 both him and his mummy are little fighters 💪🏼 xx thanks for sharing your good news story it’s just what I need right now xx
I’m not sure! I think so but I have no symptoms so don’t really believe it is true. Got a scan next Wednesday so just counting down the days till then!
Ive been out of the loop lately but so encouraged that you are 5+ weeks and have every reason to keep believing you will get to the big 12 week safety zone. Lots of positive stories shared from similar circumstances... Sending you good vibes xxx
Positive story here; 2nd round ICSI and a subchorionic hematoma at 16 weeks with active dark bleeding which turned into a busy 1 year old little boy. Try to rest and be positive ❤️ keep us updated and take care xx
Hi Twiglet, sorry for slow response. it sounds like I have had the same thing as you! I had a bleed today and had a scan and was told it was caused by the sub chorionic detachment. I could see it on the scan. Mine is also medium size. I have been advised exactly the same as you, to wait a week and monitor again then. Apparently there’s nothing we can do. I’m praying for both of us that everything will be ok. Sending you positive vibes ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Sorry to hear you have it too! at least you have an explanation for the cramping and your bleed though, it’s pretty scary! Hoping it all turns out okay for the both of us 🤗 xx
Yes everything crossed for both of us. Take good care and let me know how the next scan goes! Have you been told to drop the Inhixa (blood thinning injections?) by any chance? I haven’t asked my clinic yet but I’m suspecting I should prob stop as it might increase the bleeding. Do you know? ❤️ xxx
I’m not on any blood thinners but I’ve seen a lot of people being told to stop any blood thinners once diagnosed with it so I would defo phone the clinic and check xx
Such a worry for you. I’m so pleased they could see the sac and yolk & yes that’s all they’d expect to see at this stage but hopefully when you’re back next week you’ll see a little flicker 💓🙏🏼
I had this and bled heavy for one day and then briwn when i wiped until 12 weeks. Little girl is 22 months now. There is still hope. Sending lots of love xxx
