Progesterone levels for viable pregnancy any input?

Hello, i am wondering if anyone or anyones clinic has tested their progesterone levels after embryo transfer and maybe after positive pregnancy test and what would be the level to have a progression of pregnancy in IVF???

I read A STUDY that 14 dpo and positive pregnancy test should be above 300 nmol but then i saw a lot of posts saying that anything above 100 nmol or even 40 nmol is good. However i am wondering with IVF as we do get progesterone externally what they should be.

I would really really appreciate it.

Hi MariaI’m not sure about the study but my personal experience is this:

My consultant said above 30 nmol/L is good - and was very happy with having 60+ nmol prior to implant and on positive pregnancy test.

Are you sure the units were nmol/L for the 300 value?

I’ve attached the progesterone ranges from my lab in case it helps X

Hello! Thanks for replying.Yes the study indicated that at day 14 after embryo transfer and with a positive pregnancy test women with progesterone levels above 350 nmol went on to have successful pregnancies whereas women with levels at 150 nmol had miscarriages and so on. However i only found this one study. Probably with ivf as you supplement progesterone it should be higher but k really dont know. Really thank you for replying.

Can you share the study please?

Hi, the study is : pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/155..., this is from 2005 and i am not sure when was the last dose of progesterone before testing.

I also found another study that reports lower levels and this is from 2017. : pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/287....

So not sure which one is the correct! Any experience anyone?

I gave my personal experience and have made it to 8 weeks. I thought you wanted reference ranges so I shared. The second study gives the ranges shared by several research sources via simple searches and is consistent with my consultants advice.

Although I could choose to accept the alternative and await my impending miscarriage as predicted by your first study.

Sorry my reply failed to give you the answer you we’re looking for.

Hello Loma1. First of all congratulations! That is amazing news and well done! Thank you so so much for your reply. I agree with you and obviously your consultant wouldKnow more!

And of course in any way and form I am Not saying that i believe the results! You are an example that they are not reliable! And honestly thank you so so much for proving them wrong. I was worried about progesterone levels in general and In any case i didnt want to scare anyone as i am also scared!

My apologies if this study upset you in any way! I think you are proof that its rubbish!

Please enjoy your pregnancy! And again congratulations

Thank youI know you had no intention of upsetting me - all the studies etc are very conflicting.

I usually only share personal experience for this reason and so if progesterone is a concern for you and would consider alternative ways - vitamin C delays the break down of progesterone in the body so can be helpful as a daily supplement to increase serum concentration. I also purposely eat progesterone rich foods.

Good luck
