Hi All. Had a good session today with the nurse.

Until she said “no” to Chinese medicine. I was recommended it by a friend who swore it helped her IVF journey. Thoughts?

I had accupuncture throughout my cycles and was given Chinese medicine in my first round. I was also told not to use it and looked into it a bit further with the help of Dr. Google. I read some articles that, at the time, said that it had the potential to be detrimental in IVF treatment and that was enough for me not to take it. I did however, continue with accupuncture and found it to really help.

I did acupuncture too and have been successful in getting pregnant. I think i went 4 or 5 times at £40 a go. Supposedly there are studies to say it's beneficial. It definitely helped me relax, focus positively and the lady I say saw so many women in the same boat. She put needles in different places each time depending on where i was at the in my cycle. Supposedly helps blood to flow... I was willing to try almost anything. Thinking of going back during my pregnancy.

Hi there,My clinic says the same. Acupuncture is all good. It can be helpful to relax and help blood flow but the herbs can have an impact on the IVF drugs so they suggest not to use them leading up to or during a round.

Hope that helps and good luck with your round xx

My doctor allowed Chinese herbs so I took them through stims and through prep for FET. I got better results with that round of ivf and was also successful for FET (4 transfers before failed). I can’t say it was definitely because of Chinese herbs and acupuncture because I also changed clinics and did more tests but I think it was a factor. My Chinese doctor was wonderful and I trusted him. Who knows, could have been placebo effect at play.

I doubt this included acupuncture, which has been proven to increase your chances of success. I would agree with avoiding any herb of any sorts during treatment though.
