Whoop woo nurse appointment!!
Hi Tw1986. Clinic nurses often work differently, but often a first appointment with the nurse involves further blood tests being carried out to check for HIV, Hepatitis, and chlamydia. Probably check out your hormones again including AMH. A further semen analysis ordered if any problems with the last one. A chat about giving yourself injections, plus when these will start. Then there will be some legal paperwork to fill in, which you may have to take away for GP to sign. You might be invited to an open evening to learn all about the process from start to finish, although this is not always offered. An internal scan of your ovaries may be done too to check for any cysts on your ovaries. Arrangements may also be made for you to have a laparoscopy or an HSG (hysterosalpingogram) to check your tubes if required. Can’t think of anything else, but wanted to say good luck with it all, and hope all goes OK. Diane
Hi Diane thanks for your reply we've had all the tests this past few weeks and I've had a laparoscopy and my husband has had a semen semen analysis two weeks ago, I will be on my period when we have this appointment do you think we will be able to start our ivf on that cycle? xx
Hi TE1986,
I had IVF last year and our first appointment was consent signing etc any blood tests I think we both had blood tests for hiv hepatitis etc. After that appointment I had to wait until my period started and then phone the nurse who then booked me in so many days later to start my injections.
It feels like you're waiting for ages but it goes by so quickly. Good luck with everything x
Aw thanks Hun I think we may be started from that appointment then cause we've had all tests etc but the only thing is I'll be on my period when we go for appointment do you think she'll start us that month? xx
It's so hard to remember exactly but I do remember I was on my period when I had my appointment but I couldn't start with my injections because my blood results weren't back. You can't start until you have the all clear and my results came back 2 days too late so had to wait for my next period. It was so frustrating because it was all so close. Don't get disheartened if you can't start straight away just think of it as extra time to get yourself ready, eat healthy, get in the right frame of mind, stay as positive as you can x
as Diane said, every clinic is different but we had our nurse appt and was told to ring for a day 21 appt as soon as period came. Period actually started later that day so started injections on day 21. Bloods etc have to all be negative too in order to start. Good luck!xx
When we had nurse appointment last week, we had to return all paperwork then she checked everything. She explains the calendar dates for us means what's next.she ordered injections for me which I ll receive in few days and she booked for a training for injections
