So after years and years of struggles with my fertility we finally bit the bullet and had our donor egg recipient consultation today. It’s this or nothing now.
At the meeting I was told it will take nine months to find a donor. So long! I feel gutted as I’m 49 (how!!!) and this time frame takes me past my 50th birthday which does not feel comfortable.
The clinic said they will treat me to age 52ish so it is all just possible. However, a minimum of 18 months from now to term - never mind the potential setbacks along the way - does not feel a good starting place.
How can I get this to happen more quickly WITHOUT travelling abroad, which is just not possible/practical right now. I do not have a suitable known donor. Do I just have to be more patient?

Hi hun, good that you got things in motion...however I feel the answer to your question is yes, you need to be more patient if you’re not prepared to go abroad. Clinics abroad virtually have no waiting time for egg donor protocols (I had my first consultation on 4th September 2020 and transfer on 19th November!), and I know that travelling right now doesn’t sound so easy or appealing but after all it’s not that bad. Clinics help you organise the trip and since it’s medical reason you’re allowed to travel. Maybe it’s worth considering it? Good luck! 🍀🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻
Hi I would just like to say I am 46 , had 7 attempts 14 embryos put back now , the last three fets I had have been within the last year , just had my big fat no on Monday with my lady embryo ( by the way they are donor embryos ) I have been married for 23 years trying on and off for 18 , so yes it’s so hard I am having my consultant review on Tuesday so we see what they have to say , xxxx
