Hi all, I have a rather strange question. Has anyone tried or heard anything about home insemination. My partner struggles to ejaculate but can produce the material. I have asked the clinic to do iui but they said that the best way forward is ICSI. With nothing wrong with me, I feel we have not even had a chance of trying naturally. Today is the end of my ICSI cycle and I did the test and its a negative. I again feel like I want to try iui at least for 6 times ( 6 months in a row) and see what happens. In my eyes, iui is the same as in home insemination just performed in clinic. What are your thoughts? I saw some kits being sold online.

Hi Alice. As you have just had a failed ICSI cycle, then I assume that this was done because of sperm problems. In order to have IUI you need lots of good swimmers and nice pointy noses to the sperm. Of course you could try self insemination for a few days around ovulation time - once you have a syringe. However the choice is yours, and I wish you well with whichever course you take. Diane
I’ve tried this - we got to the point where we couldn’t face sex around ovulation. You get sterile pots and syringes on Amazon. It didn’t work 😂 despite the fact I got pregnant naturally none were from the few months that I tried insems. It’s what people do for traditional surrogacy, so not actually that weird. Worth a go!xx
Dear Alice, if the clinic suggested ICSI and not IVF, you have sperm problems. Of course you can try it at home around ovulation time, (you have to do ovulation tests), but there is not a big chance of success. IUI is usually done at young couples, both healthy, with good sperm quality. I also suggest food supplement for your guy. We have Profertil for men. We had tried with that supplement and there was a sucess once. You have to take other supplements, like D-vitamin, Q10, folic acid...
Thank you everyone!
