Ok so I had egg collection today and I was so pleased to get 8 eggs last time I got 4 so I was really really happy with that .
The only problem was the doctor said there was a problemwith the quality of the sperm this time ,so I thought for god sake ,and suggested we did icsi as there wasn't enough to work with ,we had 16%sperm, I guess I'm asking has anyone had any successful stories with this and what are your thoughts on icsi ? My partner feels very guilt and down and responsiblefor this ,but of course it's not his fault I'm still feeling very positive, and will find out tomorrow if and how many eggs fertilize

I would say the majority of IVF’ers in the world have ICSI nowadays and actually a lot of European clinics do it as standard. It ensures that the sperm definitely goes into the egg to give it the best possible chance to fertilise. There are some studies that have shown it can sometimes affect the egg but that is generally down to the skill of the embryologist. I think your Dr doesn’t want to take any chances and wants to make sure that sperm reaches all the eight eggs to encourage the best numbers for fertilisation.
We had no choice but to have ICSI as my husbands sperm wasn’t swimming 🤷🏻♀️ and we had a successful round. So did my sister as her husband had antibodies on his sperm and she got a really good amount of embryos.
Best of luck to you. Hope you get to relax and put your feet for the rest of the day xxx
Aww this sounds positive thanks for sharing your story too glad it helped you and fingers crossed it will help me too ,it will be a long 24 hours now lol x
We did ivf twice and icsi once. Each time got me pregnant. Sadly I lost the two ivf babies due to a blood clotting abnormality but we knew about this when we did the icsi. My icsi rainbow baby is 14 months old now xx
Hi Shelly. ICSI is fine, especially when sperm s sluggish and not easily able to penetrate an egg n its own. Often a better success rate is given against ordinary IVF, so fingers crossed it works for you. Diane
