I wanted to ask your advice... I am waiting to start my next IVF cycle but it's been suggested by a doctor not at the clinic it could be beneficial to have a hysterectomy.
My last cycle ended in miscarriage and I wonder if anyone had one & found it beneficial? I feel like most issues would have been picked up from ultrasounds etc.
TIA xx

It is definitely worth to do a hysteroscopy. I had 3 transfers so far and all ended in biochemical. I had my hysteroscopy done 2 weeks ago and they found few micropolyps. They removed them, hope this will be the answer to our losses. You never know what can be found during procedure. Sometimes we are not experiencing any symptoms so we have no reasons for concern, like in my case. If you have polyps usually you will have spotting in between cycles or heavy and very painful periods. I had none of them. I am really sorry to hear about your loss, I know the pain. Good luck whatever you decide to do 🤞♥️
It was painful like hell I won't lie. I asked my doctor to give me local sedation but he said (before the procedure) that it is not necessary as it will take only few minutes. My polyps were removed without sedation and in the end he decided before taking a biopsy from my lining to do a local sedation as it was too much for me 😬
Thank you. Yeah going to try with no pain relief 1st off. I just want it done so can get started on our next cycle. Will just need to dig deep and remember sooner it's done the better xx
Ha ha, I've had that autocorrect before and requested a hysterectomy from my clinic! There would be no chance then! I had a hysteroscopy, polyp was removed and got pregnant on subsequent cycle
The first time yes, as they wanted to give it a go without pain relief in the first instance as the administration can hurt in itself. The second time no - I had local pain relief. All will be well for you I'm sure
I had a hysteroscopy early on in my fertility journey and all was well. Fast forward a few years and after 2 pregnancies (later lost in second trimester) we tried Ivf again and had recurrent implantation failure (4 failed transfers) dr suggested hysteroscopy to make sure nothing from previous pregnancies was left behind or if they affected anything inside. So I went ahead and all was fine.
I was actually hoping they found something as it would explain why 4 top grade blasts had failed
But after that we had another fresh round and I did become pregnant with my daughter
I have since had a fet and that failed also so I really not sure. But it would give u peace of mind at least Xxx
It's such a horrible rollercoaster! Yes exactly at least I can say I tried everything and won't have any what ifs. Thinking of you and wishing you all the best for your next cycle xx
Very much worth it! I had 2 blighted ovum pregnancies and a chemical plus a few BFN......changed clinic and they did a hysteroscopy which showed I had some scarring and a narrow uterus, non of which was picked up on ultrasound. Once these issues were corrected my next round resulted in my 3 month old daughter!
I had a miscarriage after a fet and my clinic have recommended a hysteroscopy after the egg retrieval and then a month later they will do a frozen transfer. I've just had another fet without the hysteroscopy. Going to see how this goes and if it doesn't work will go for the hysteroscopy. I had one previously in 2019 and nothing was found but if it's recommended I will try it again. I also had an MRI and they didn't find anything wrong. Maybe a clean out now and again helps improve chances? It's good to read others experiences on it.
I’m due to have one next month but I’m having it done under general anaesthetic , my doctor advised me to do so . I have to wait then for one period after procedure to start my next IVF cycle.
Just an update, I had the hysteroscopy today and it wasn't very pleasant. They found nothing so a good result. I would recommend taking a strong painkiller if doing it with no GA. xx
