I had a consultation with a private clinic today to see if there was anything else I could add in to my next transfer. I enquired about low dose aspirin (75mg) and he said I can take it from the day of transfer. My clinic don’t recommend it until 6 weeks as apparently it can lead to implantation failure. Just wondering if anyone has taken it from day of transfer and got a BFP?

Low dose aspirin from day of transfer
Hi JustAGirl. As far as I know it is often recommended just before FET or embryo transfer to help ensure even blood flow to womb lining and hopefully prevent clot formation. Best to follow your specialists advice. Good luck if you decide to use it. Diane
I started taking it a few days before transfer and have been staying on it past bfp. It won’t do any harm to start it earlier than 6 weeks
I started baby aspirin on my transfer day, unfortunately that transfer ended in biochemical. On my next transfer I will start taking aspirin on transfer day as well as I will start my blood thinner before the embryo is back into my uterus. My doctor told me that if you are on blood thinner you don't need to take aspirin before transfer. Good luck whatever you decide 💝🤗
Hi JustAGirl21. I should have a frozen transfer in an about 2 weeks time (round four 🤞).My clinic prescribed me Clexane (I was given Arovi by the pharmacy)- to prevent blood clots- which I will start to take (inject) along with my progesterone medication few days prior to the transfer. I have 14 pre filled syringes of Arovi. From the other side- last year my GP was edvised (by a consultant from the Obstetric Medicine Clinic)’once my pregnancy test is positive to add in aspirin 75mg od’. I will clarify everything during my next scan on Manday -as Aspirin is my big ? at the moment.
Last week I was told by a clinic Nurse that Clexane and Aspirin both work in a similar way and that she was going to ask my consultant about both Clexane/Alovi and Aspirin and when to start to take them...they may want me to take a combination of both 🤷♀️
Overall my clinic prescribed me Arovi to administer prior to upcoming transfer and my GP was advised to add Aspirin when the pregnancy test become positive...
Hmm interesting. I have the blood thinning injections, but I don’t have clots. Think it’s something they just threw in to trial with me. I can’t make my mind up about whether to take aspirin from transfer or not, but a good compromise might be not to take it, see if I get a BFP and then add it in if I got a positive. I never thought of that idea so thank you! Good luck with your next transfer x
Hi, I started taking aspirin on the second day of my FET cycle (so well before transfer!) I don’t know enough about it to know how the advice varies for the individual (I was put on blood thinning injections at 5 weeks too) but I think lots of people are on it before 6 weeks. It’s so difficult to know though when clinic advise seems to vary. X
Hi, exactly, there’s no one consensus advice.. which I suppose I understand coz everyone is different but I wish my clinic did more than just seem to think it’s a numbers game. You have a BFP don’t you? Congratulations! Which other medication did you have aside from aspirin and blood thinning injections (were these Tinzaparin?) x
Thank you. Yes I had a BFP. I’ve always had aspirin from the start of transfer on the grounds that my clinic thinks it can help implantation. I’m also on:
- Progynova 10 mg a day
- Evorel patches 200 mg on alternate days
- Cyclogest 400 mg 4 times daily
- Prontogest 100mg on alternate days
-Dalteparin 5000iu every day (blood thinners)
I also had a trigger shot (Ovitrelle) before and after transfer.
It’s a right concoction of drugs to be honest so fingers crossed it works! X
Ooh I’m on:
Progynova 2mg 3 times a day,
Cyclogest 400mg 2 pessaries in the morning and 2 in the evening
Tinzaparin (blood thinners) 4500iu.
I don’t have any of the others, but I’ll ask them today about Prontogest.
Is this on the nhs or private? Maybe they don’t want to give me too much as mine is nhs. They just called me and I’m the only one with a transfer today.
Good luck with yours! X
This is private. An ERA showed that I need more progesterone and a progesterone blood test on day of transfer showed low results still so I started prontogest straight away on top of the Cyclogest. The Ovitrelle was also a result of my ERA. I don’t know if this is done on the NHS? Not sure. Good luck x
The hospital I’m at don’t do the ERA test. I could get it done privately (which I might do if this one doesn’t work). I’ll ask them today about the other medications but I’m sure they won’t change anything today. They probably won’t even do a blood test but I’ll ask. The aspirin I was going to wait and if I got a positive, start it then. But I’m unsure again now - your private clinic say from transfer and a private clinic doc I spoke to on Tuesday told me I could have it from day of transfer. But my nhs hospital say from 6 weeks onwards... which is interesting. Thank you for all the information xx
Hiya, I'm doing a natural FET and asked my clinic if I can take aspirin. They said there's no harm in taking it. I started a week before my transfer, I've had a positive and am still taking it. I have no idea if it helped but with my period I do get big clots so I wanted to try this! Good luck xx
Just to update - asked the specialist today about aspirin, she said it’s not recommended before 6-7 weeks as it’s harmful to the placenta before then. She said I’m on a high dose of progesterone already so don’t need anymore (my husband told me to up it to 6 pessaries a day by myself instead of 4 pessaries). She said the progynova (estradiol) is to help with lining, and that wasn’t an issue at my scan so I don’t need anymore. I guess I’ll just stay on what I’m currently on and see what happens. Thank you all - hope that it all works out for you x

I’ve found this today - don’t know if it will help anyone xx
That's a great link and interesting article! Blood flow is so important for implantation, as well as the window of transfer and chromosomal normality of the embryo. I think it well may have contributed positively so far in my pregnancy. If your clinic and specialist is on board it's worth trying. I had to push for it by asking a few questions and I'm so glad I did! They were going to wait to see whether this round worked or not and I didn't want to take the risk. My consultant pointed out that unless I have ulcers/indigestion it would be low risk.
