Hi Guys!!! I need to hear from anyone that had experience with a day 2 transfer. Im definitely not new to ivf, I have had 3 egg retrievals ( the last one was yesterday) and 5 embryo transfers so far in the space of 4 yrs, all unsuccessful..... I have actually never seen a positive pregnancy test 😩 I have never had an issue with low number of eggs and always had a good amount reach to blastocyst stage of good quality .
Im with a new clinic, which have been great so far.
Yesterday after retrieval ( they collected 8 eggs which has made 4 embryos today, my lowest number personally ) the doctor and embryologist asked me how I felt about trying a day 2 transfer........ I couldn't help but feel skeptical. I have tried a day 3 once, but the rest have all been day 5 transfers and from what I know, day 5 is optimal!!
They made an appointment with me tomorrow at the clinic to discuss and im guessing if I agree, I may even have the transfer tomorrow!!!! I dont know what to do 😩!!!
Im now 40, I just got my lowest egg collection and embryo number, I dont think I want to go through another egg collection again, so this little batch is my last shot....... Should I risk a day 2 transfer? Would love to hear opinions and/or experiences xoxox

why you dint try optibac for women before go for transfer . As you had many failed transfer. Also read book it’s start with egg by rabbica fat. It’s really helpful.
I have no experience with embryo transfers yet, but when the embryologist told me the plan to do a 3 day embryo transfer, she said "not a single incubator in the lab will do a better job than your womb making that embryo grow". If you've always had day 5 transfers without success, they're probably trying to go a different route hoping for a better outcome.
I hope someone with more experience can give you more advice, but I would say trust your gut - do what you feel it's going to be best.
Thankyou Peppy ❤️ I do agree with there not being a better place than the womb and when the embryologist explained it to me, she did say they where thinking of going that route because of my past experience.. I will see what happens tomorrow I guess. Thank you for your reply, and wishing you also the best of luck xo
Hi. My clinic won’t do Day 3 transfers, because they say if an embryo can’t make it to a blastocyst at Day 5/6 in the lab, there is very little chance that it would prosper in the womb. I have no idea if they’re right or not! If you have a good history of your embryos making it to Day 5, I wonder why they’re suggesting a Day 2 transfer? Do they simply want to change things up a bit? Just out of interest, have you ever sent your blastocysts for PGT-A before transfer? Wishing you the best of luck ❤️
Hi Football ❤️ Im guessing they are suggesting that because of my past experiences and that my case from what we have discovered is more to do with implantation dysfunction ....We did discuss PTA-A in the past but the embryologist didn't think I needed it because I haven't even had a known miscarriage (not that i want one) which in their mind confirms the implantation difficulty ,,,,,,, but like you said why would a day 2 (not even 3) be better than a day 5...... This has really gotten me confused.... I guess I will find out tomorrow, I just wish I knew what the right thing to push for is 😩 Thankyou for your reply ❤️ and wishing you all the best
I have had 2 transfers previously, one 5 day blast that ended with an ectopic.
One 3 day that was a BFN and I am currently 11dp my 2 day transfer.
We had a bad round and only had one embryo so they wanted to put it back in right away. My specialist said they only culture embryos to choose the best one and as I didn’t have a choice an early transfer was best. He did reiterate that a lab will never be able to culture the embryos the way our bodies can!
My OTD is tomorrow. I can’t say I’m hopeful however this is for other reasons around this cycle not relating to the 2 day transfer.
My advice would be follow your heart and don’t make a decision that you might regret later.
Thankyou Becem ❤️ I have got my fingers and toes crossed for you 🤞🙏 I think when I heard a 2 day and not 3 or 5, it threw me off abit. Im sorry you had a bad round, I know how hard that is, but you never know, all it takes is one!!!!! . I will find out what the final recommendation is in a few hours, thankyou for sharing.... . Best of luck tomorrow ❤️❤️❤️ sometimes when we feel the least hopeful is when life surprises us ✨
Honestly, I was the same. They called me the morning after egg retrieval to ask me to go in the next day. Right away I cried and told myself it was all over, one embryo would never make it if none of the others did and I got myself in a state about changing my work plans etc.
The 2 days transfer was my least painful transfer I’ve had and the embryologist was really hopefully which was good.
Hopefully I get to share some good news about a 2dt with you tomorrow 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
Oh Goodness I hope so!! 🤞🤞🤞🙏🙏🙏 That would be really amazing to hear ❤️❤️❤️ I have always thought that maybe one is better to transfer..... I feel like maybe the body doesn't get so much of a shock with one, even tbough i have never done one, it has always lingered in the back of my mind ✨ I will check in again with you Tomorrow ❤️❤️ throwing lots of baby dust your way ✨✨
If its clear which embryo is the ‘best’ ie you only have one or 2 still going tomorrow then yeah a day 2 or 3 is sometimes preferred as better chance (or at least the same chance) in than out but if you have 4 fertilised and still going I’m not sure how they will choose which one to transfer back on day2? I would personally give it at least until day 3 and then if still more than 2 going wait until day 5 but if only one or 2 transfer then. That’s my clinics approach too as so much can happen between day 2 and 5 so with 4 embryos it would be hard to know what ones will be ‘best’ to put back. I’ve had similar numbers last few retrievals and that’s been our approach xx
Thankyou Twiglet ❤️ That's what im thinking... Isn't it better as a day 5? Because its a new clinic, im not sure exactly where their head is at. If they are pushing for it because they are worried about me not having an embryo on day 5 then i will not do the day 2, because I believe I will have a day 5, but because of my issues with implantation, if they feel its better for that reason then maybe then I will change my mind.... Its so frustrating not knowing if im having a transfer today... Im going in blind... I really appreciate your advise ❤️❤️❤️
That makes complete sense to me the way you are thinking about it. I know the not knowing what’s happening is always the hardest thing for me too! Fingers and toes crossed for you over the next few days 🤗💜🤞🏽 xx
I’m not sure what things you are doing to help implantation or what protocol you are on but I think if it was me and my last go, I’d wait until day 5 unless they could show evidence of better implantation with a less developed embryo. If I got 2 or more embryos I would PGA test and then be confident there are no obvious embryo issues. I wish I’d done that. Then I’d do a FET but with immune protocol and throw everything at it.
Thankyou Teddy ❤️ sound advice and something to think about. Im in the office now waiting for them to come in........ Im going to mention again about testing..... Im just going to see what they say...... Right now im leaning more towards day 5!!!!!! I Appreciate your advise Truly❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Update *** For anyone reading this and resonates with it... So from 4 embryos, it is now 3..... One with pretty good quality and 2 medium quality with one slightly better than the other...... It is risky because I may have none by day 5........ But if that is the case, then I guess there would not be a viable pregnancy anyway and after my discussion with the embryologist I came to the conclusion that yes it is a better environment in the womb and MAYBE putting it in earlier warms the body up to it before implantation , but in a natural pregnancy a 2 day embryo is still in the fallopian tube..... so to cut a long story short,,, I dont feel like I have enough embryos to experiment with, so I am going all in and going straight for a day 5......as far as PGA-T testing, I was told I could do it if I wanted to but the thing with that is embryos have the capacity to correct themselves most of the time,, so lets say you have an embryo tested and something comes up wrong with it,,there is a 90% chance after hearing that, you will not use that embryo, when in actual fact the embryo would have been just fine and just needed abit more time to correct,, I think the women that repeatedly miscarriage benefit more from this type of testing than anyone else........... So yeah... Day 5 it is.... Here's to hoping it works out 🤞🤞 Thankyou to all the beauties who replied... Know you guys truly helped me today... I want to wish you all and anybody else needing it the best of luck ❤️✨🤞
Wishing you the very best of luck. I will have everything crossed for you this week. I hope you don’t mind me saying, but I’m not sure that the advice you have received on PGT-A is scientifically correct. I am 44 and sent five of my blastocysts for PGT-A testing this year. Unfortunately, they all came back abnormal - most likely due to my advanced age. I went through the results in great detail with my consultant, who is a renowned fertility expert in the UK. Most of my embryos had complex chromosomal abnormalities, and I don’t think they would have “corrected themselves” in the womb. Anyway, that’s by the by - wishing you luck! ❤️
9Thankyou so much ❤️❤️ for sure PGT-A has done some amazing things for thousands of people and I guess it depends on your situation, history, age and genetics, for some for sure it's a no brainer. But scientifically there is truth to what I was told.... Of course I ran home and googled it, found afew things on it like this : rbej.biomedcentral.com/arti...
