Hi there looking for your thoughts and guidance on my situation. I am 45 have had one lot of unsuccessful icsi back in Nov and have 1 blastocyst left to try with so should be due to start again as soon as I have my period. My withdrawal bleed was Nov 18th and I’ve had no period since. I’ve had a couple of other stressful things happen in life and also work in the nhs so life has been pretty manic since my treatment so suspect the stress is affecting my cycle! I’ve done a pregnancy test so it’s not that.I’m in turmoil about whether to have the covid vaccine or not as my work have advised I probably shouldn’t as if I do go ahead with treatment the second vaccine would be due during a potential pregnancy and they are not willing to give it unless signed off by my clinic.
I’m also anxious about going ahead with any treatment as I’m preparing for a stressful month next month due to a personal issue and wonder whether we are overall best to postpone the ivf for a couple of months until things settle but then that worries me due to my age as I don’t want to leave things too late. Help I really don’t what to do for the best 🙁

Hi Miaow, I'm absolutely terrified of catching Covid at the moment because I know if I do my ivf will be stopped. The stress of worrying about that is then making me worry that I could be affecting our chances by being stressed!! If you had your vaccine that worry would be off the table, particularly since you work in the NHS so are potentially at higher risk of coming into contact with the virus.
I know exactly what you mean about worrying about the time ticking by and not wanting it to be too late, but equally I think rushing to transfer when you're not ready would create so much disappointment if it failed and you might blame yourself. No one can give you the answer but we are at the peak of Covid and you might have more peace of mind if you get vaccinated, get through this stressful time at work, and get your personal issue out of the way. You can then put all of your focus onto your ivf and hopefully it will be successful 🤞🏻💗
But if you think that waiting would actually cause more stress then perhaps go ahead now!
Massive kudos to you for juggling all of this. It sounds really difficult. You are a strong lady! Best of luck with your decision, and whatever you decide we're all behind you ❤ xx
Thanks for your reply I’ve booked in for a counselling session with my clinic to talk through all my options and can hopefully make an informed decision then. I really appreciate your support thanks again and good luck with your treatment xxx
Don’t wait. That’s my honest opinion. Two years ago I lost my job...I thought ok, I don’t feel it is now the right time for ivf...I planned to wait 6 months and it easily turned 1 year...after that more prolongation due to covid situation etc. I’m 42. My body is not the same as two years ago. Everything changed. Fsh levels jumped to 17...amh very low. I hope I’m not too negative, I just wanted to gove you the most honest advice. Im now in 2ww 3dp3dt...and sending you lots of hope and strenght🙏🍀
Thanks for your reply and support and no your not too negative I asked the question as I want to hear good and bad experiences to help me weigh up my options. Good luck with your 2ww and well done for sticking at things, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that you get a BFP. 🤞🏻 Xxx
Hi Miaow, I’m in a similar situation , I’m doing ivf but batching due to very low amh and follicles so I won’t have the transfer this month . I was told to wait till after my treatment to have the vaccine but in my case this would be months down the line and any sign of covid would cancel my cycle . I work in a hospital although not a patient facing role . I am terrified of going in the tea room or loo at work and try and minimise contact with others but it’s impossible and there are 8 people off with covid right now . I persuaded my ivf doctor that the benefits of me having it outweigh the risks . I really don’t think it’s good in this stressful process to have the additional stress of trying to avoid catching covid !!! Would the effect of having covid during pregnancy or having your ivf delayed due to covid be worse than side effects of vaccine ? This is what you should discuss with your doctor I think . All the best with your decision ! Good luck x
Thanks for your reply it really helped put things in perspective and I will be discussing this further with my clinic tomorrow and then making a decision on where I go from here.I really appreciate your support and good luck with your treatment xx
Hi miaow phone your gp have a chat with him over the phone about your issues/stress and concerns ivf patients, women trying to conceive or pregnant women can't get the vaccine.contact your gp and get a sick line, being streesed can tire and impair your thinking so you might need time off work, start your ivf and juggle your other issue whilst your off find things that relax you, reading, having a bath, walking, think of yourself and your needs I hope this helps you on making a decision please takecare and stay safe 💖
Hey! I took 45 days to come on my period after failed icsi. I’ve just had my second which is now 30 day cycle. I’m usually a 26 day cycle girl! So don’t panic it’s on it’s way!! I’m not on FET cycle first day 10 scan Monday! Good luck xx
