Cancelled appointment

Hi guys,

I was due at hospital tomorrow to start injections for iui treatment. Got a phone call today to say appointments have been cancelled due to covid. This is the second time I was due to start 😢

Has anyone else had appointments cancelled.

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that! You must be so disappointed 😥 My hospital said they have no plans to stop unless they are told that they have to, but I'm in the middle of taking the drugs so I don't know if that applies to people who haven't started yet. I really hope you're able to get going again very soon xx

I'm absolutely gutted 😢 As far as I know it's came from above my clinic. I think you will be fine as you have started drugs but I've only been on nasal and was due to start drugs tomorrow xx

I was due to start stims tomorrow. I've been on nasal spray for last 3 weeks. Absolutely gutted 😢 They said I have to keep checking the nhsgcc website for updates. Xx

Oh no, how awful, I didnt think they'd cancel people who have already started some sort of medication. Are you at a NHS clinic in England? Xx

I'm at a nhs clinic in Scotland. It might be different down in England. Different rules. That's what I thought - I know i hadn't started injections yet but was still on some kind of medication. This happened last March too. We were just about to start and it got cancelled 🤦🏻‍♀️ xx

IVF, fresh cycle. I was also due to start late March 2020 & was cancelled then this time around I was 2 weeks away from starting my IVF meds 😢 I think from what I've seen online there are quite a lot of women at our stage being cancelled for fresh cycles. Like yourself, I'm so upset. I didn't know there was a meeting tomorrow. Any ideas what for/what they'll be discussing specifically? Xx

It's so devasting! My appointment was tomorrow afternoon 😭 Yea I think there are alot of woman being cancelled. No idea I think it's just a meeting about the next step because of covid but I'm just guessing that. The nurse just said to keep an eye on the website for updates xx

It's so disheartening & I have the fear they will keep the updates ambiguous to protect themselves like "for a temporary period of time" or similar. I could defo cope with 2 months delay, for example but if we're talking a huge delay again, I just dread to think how all of these patients (including us) will cope 😢

So sorry for you❤️ That’s so not fair.

On Friday I received an automated email message from the app (We are waiting for a pre-FET video appointment) saying that the appointment had been ‘cancelled due to: error’. First I thought ‘Covid again’ but it seemed strange to me because I was booked on the previous day.

I emailed my hospital (Bart’s) and they said that they will let me know on Monday (today) but it is probably due to the fact that they are moving platforms.

London is the most affected with the pandemic now so I won’t be surprised if I receive a phone call todays saying that my cycle has been cancelled :/

I hope the will vaccinate everyone quickly so that we can all just get on with our lives❤️

I am also with St Barts and they have cancelled my appointments for IVF since last year.

So sorry to hear that❤️I had mine cancelled last year too.They just confirmed that the appointment is still booked and that all is ok. Hopefully it will stay that way until the transfer.

Everyone has been cancelled in Northern Ireland too, fertility services are not seen as a front line service so the clinic is closed and staff redeployed to hospital/covid wards. Happened to me last March, managed then to get one failed treatment before Christmas but now ive no idea when I'm going to get review apts for my frozen one... Hopefully it won't be for too long, if people would just stay home and keep covid numbers down this wouldn't keep happening...so frustrating....don't lose hope x

As far as I'm aware our clinic is still open but just not starting any new treatments 😢 I was the same cancelled last March and was just getting round to our first one tomorrow.

Fingers crossed for you that you don't wait to long 🤞 I agree people need to do as they are asked and hopefully we can all get on with our lives soon.

Oh Lisa, I’m so sorry. It’s heartbreaking when you’ve been waiting so long and started the drugs. I had an NHS frozen embryo transfer cancelled during first lockdown so totally get how you feel. Sending big hugs xxx

Oh lovely. I’m so sorry, it’s rubbish. Is going to a private clinic an option at all for you? I don’t know about up in Scotland but they’re open in England xx

We are also with the Glasgow NHS clinic and I have been wondering when this might happen 😞 we are meant to be doing IVF in March/April with pgt-a and we were meant to have been given a date by now, wonder how far back we will get pushed, so sorry for everyone about to start or already had, it's just so bloody awful 🧡

I’m so sorry to hear this, it’s so disappointing and upsetting. I’m Scotland too but Edinburgh I’m due to start my second cycle this week I wonder if I’ll get the same call. We had our first one cancelled in March last year was an awful time the whole not knowing. I hope it’s not as long this time and people staying in reduces the numbers in NHS beds.

It’s been a painful last year for us. First our cycle got cancelled in March with the clinic closing for COVID, then my husband tested positive before egg collection in July and the cycle was cancelled (probs a false positive as we didn’t have any symptoms or antibodies ), I got pregnant on the next cycle but I miscarried at 8 weeks. We were keen to start last week as I have low AMH and am 36 but was cancelled again.

Aw gosh I'm so sorry to hear what you have been going through. Fingers crossed appointments aren't going to be stopped for to long and we can all have a happy ending 🤞 It's so difficult when you are hyped up to go and then it can just be stopped.

Hi sorry to hear all that have been cancelled it’s such a tough time for fertility treatments during covid I feel for everyone in this situation , this happend to me last year I managed to have all done in March but had to freeze , then when had our fet booked the embryo didn’t survive the thaw .... ended as a failed . was waiting ages to start second cycle I’m currently on the down reg injections for cycle 2 , I fear that they will cancel mine soon not due to go in for scan until end of January. I’m dreading the call. It’s so hard all the waiting involved & now again this year seems like it’s happening all over again

I know it’s so tough for the nhs & completely understand if they cancel but it doesn’t make it anymore less upsetting .

Hi, I’m so sorry this has happened to you. I’m due to start my nasal spray next month via Dundee ACU. I haven’t heard anything about cancellations yet. IVF is stressful but the added addition of COVID is making it so much harder. I hope u get better news soon xx

Hi Lisa, I got a call last night explaining that the cancellations are only for egg retrievals as they are not going to do any anaesthetics. Just in Glasgow too, everywhere else in Scotland is running as normal, and all other transfers etc going ahead in Glasgow. Hopefully they don't delay too long 🧡
