Endometriosis and Ivf success

Hi all,

I was diagnosed with stage 4 endo a few years back through diagnostic laproscopy. Was immediately put on visanne to stop my period. I came off it end of 2019 as I started trying for a child.

During my last scan doc said my endo is back. He found a small adhesion on my womb. Not sure of the stage at the moment. Could be one or two.

Went for 2 rounds of failed IUI and starting IVF in Jan. Would like to know success stories of people who managed to conceive with endo and Ivf. Cause I'm wondering if i should go for a second lap before the IVF. I'm 33 this year. Any advice is much appreciated. Thank u all ❤

Hello there, I was never formally diagnosed but my gynaecologist strongly suspected I had endo. That was also the reason she put down for my IVF referral. Anyway. I did the lap and dye test and found that one tube was blocked. I was then given the option for laparoscopy or IVF and I went for the latter. Just didn't see the point of undergoing an operation which may or may not help conceiving, hence chose the IVF option. I got pregnant after 2nd FET and had my twins almost 2 years ago (I had one embryo transferred but it split). I don't know about you but I didn't want to waste time... I was 31 at the time and I didn't want to have to wait for a few weeks to recover from laparoscopy and then a few month to try.... Good luck with your journey whatever you go for x

Thank u so much for your advice dear. Having heard your story I think I'm just gonna skip lap and give IVF a shot first

Hi Hun, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Endometriosis after a large cyst ruptured. I had further surgery 14 months later to remove more Endometriosis. Not long after my Endometriosis had returned but I went on to fall pregnant naturally twice ( both ended in miscarriages due to a blood clotting disorder). I went on to have IVF aged 41 and had my little boy from that first round. I don't know if it's pure coincidence or not but I done a lot of research into Endometriosis as I have to have open surgery due to complications with keyhole surgery and wasn't keen on more surgery and took Bee Propolis... It actually helped my Endometriosis. I concieved naturally & my Endometriosis growth seemed to be reduced. Getting back to the original question, I was always told by the NHS to have surgery, go straight on Zoladex then have IVF straight after finishing the Zoladex. This was 9 years ago though. Wishing you all the best. xx

Thank u so much for your advice on bee propolis. I didn't even know about it. Went to read up and there is quite a lot of positive stories on it. Gonna get it tmr and start on it immediately before my ivf starts :)

I forgot to mention I used my own eggs. xx

Hi Boboveena28.Iv got endometriosis stage 4 and am classed as severe so it’s all scars and adhesions wrapped round my bowels and other organs.Iv had one success out of my 6 attempts with my own eggs but they were premie and passed away within a year.

Age is on your side but move quickly or consider Donor eggs.Getting a procedure before ivf is a good idea however the downside is it does grow back quite quickly and for each time you have a surgery your ovarian reserve goes down too. I turned 38 this year and am giving it another but this time with Donor eggs.

Good luck on your Journey.

Hi dearie unfortunately in Singapore we are not allowed to use donor eggs. My amh and ovarian reserve is normal. But then again whether it would influence the ivf to be successful is another story.

I didn't know that that every lap will affect the ovarian reserve. Thanks so much for sharing. I think I will go for the ivf first then. Cause lap recovery would take time as well and with every cycle its just gonna come back.

😢

Before my 4th trial i was on decapatyl injection once monthly to dry up my period and calm my pain then went for a laparoscopy to scrape out as much as they could and then healed for a month by my second month i went in for ivf and that’s the only successful one iv had to date. The two afterwards when i did not take care of the endo failed. It’s sad to hear Donor eggs isn’t allowed in Singapore as we women go through so much and should be able to make our own decisions concerning our bodies be it donor or surrogacy.

Biologically even without endo your ovarian reserve would continue to fall as you age that’s just the human body so don’t worry too much.Your consultant should have had a discussion with you about all of this before now.

How many years have you suffered with endo.If you need any more info am happy to share.Good luck on your journey.

Hi Boboveena,

I have stage IV endo, had endometriomas on my ovaries and ravaged my insides. Have had several surgeries to clear it and I am now pregnant on my second round of Ivf using my own eggs. My AMH is extremely low though because of the surgery I’ve had on my ovary (I had one ovary removed due to endo).

Good luck xx

I’m so happy for you MegandMog and take good care of that pregnancy.I wish this on myself😘

Just don’t give up. I’d also recommend taking a supplement called COQ10 200mg a day to help improve your egg quality. You’ll get there 😘 xx

Some doctors recommend to go first for ivf- egg retrieval (and/or banking embryos) and then freez them all and after do Lap or going on GNRH to help reduce endo and after do FET!This I seen so many and they were successful however in my case almost three years ago GNRH (Lupron) did not stop my period and so no decrease on endo or fibroids and only gave me very bad side effects including threw my Thyroid totally out of wack! Thanks God it returned to normal after a year. And my RE at a time ruined our precious embryo by transferring it with all of those inflammations inside including couple large fibroids and hydrosalpinx etc. It was only last year through second lsp that doctor found out one is not fibroid but potentially Adenomyosis! That’s shy we never had any second transfer and for now only doind embryo banking until we decide what to do transfer to myself or go for surrogate! Which I am not sure how easy that wud be considering COVID! That’s story of mine lets get back to your!

So all above still I know so many get results with above method to avoid the ovary damage before ivf. Retrieval ->Freeze-> GNRH and/or Lap-> FET

Also in my second ivf doctor suggested they will separate the endo from my egg cumulus if exist during ivf after retrieval and before ICSI . But I did not get any embryos with that cycle anyway! That was 6 month after failed transfer and body just recovered from Lupron but I guess quality of eggs weren’t good due to Lupron or too many Androgel he prescribed before ivf i dont know!

So you should be careful with GNRH usage specially long term but so many people I read had succes on this protocol I wrote u about ( there are many the most famouse is Lupron but I guess Decapebtil is another one)

Uou are still yonge be careful of ruining your egg reserve, try to find a very good surgeon! Even if u do lap but you wanna get pregnant through ivf doctor can only remove your adhesions around pelvic and no touch on ovaries!

Good luck dear
