I got the results of my thrombotic risk profile blood test back today and off the back of it my consultant wants me to start clexane injections. I am also starting lubion injections again as well.
Did anyone else take clexane and when did you start taking it? Was it the day you started progesterone? Or day of transfer?
Thanks! Xx

They didn’t say but the difference may be that I didn’t have any tests to check anything so as they have proved you had clotting then that may be why.
I had taken steroids for my 2nd transfer but couldn’t for my 3rd due to covid so they said I could have the clexane instead. For me it was just another thing thrown in to the mix to help with implantation as well as having a history of previous miscarriages xxx
I started my injections on transfer day but I read on the internet that for a better effect is good to take them before transfer and baby aspirin 4 weeks also before transfer. Go with what your clinic says. Your test results looked normal, within range? I am curious because I received as well today all my thrombophilia screening results and my blood tests are all normal. I am wondering whether I should take blood thinner or not 🤔🥴 The injections are quite painful and I had massive bruises after that.
Hey Ranchu, everything was normal except one type of blood clotting thing that was slightly out so they want to put me on clexane to be sure. I’m just worried about starting it too early as it seems lots of people told to start from day of transfer. I wouldn’t take it if your results have come back fine tbough, unless your clinic say otherwise? x
My clinic says injections from day of transfer and aspirin from BFP - good luck xx
I started it the day after egg collection or ovulation If doing an FET. I carried on until 12 weeks pregnancy then stopped but because I’m having twins and other factors I had to restart them at 28 weeks pregnancy
My first pregnancy I had to start around 12 weeks and carried in until 3 months after the birth
Thanks so much for this! Were you on clexane or aspirin? Good to hear someone else was on it before transfer, others seem to take it from transfer onwards so I’m worried about taking it too early x
I was on both of those. I was on aspirin 75 from day 1 of my cycle then moved onto clexane 2 days before transfer and obviously started lubion before that.xx
Thanks so much again for your help today Cindy! Did you take lubion from the first day of introducing progesterone pessaries? Also any idea why 2 days before transfer? Worried i’ve been told to take it too soon (to add first day of progesterone) xx
I wouldnt worry when you start the clexane. Like I said I was on aspirin from earlier which I think is just cheaper and starts the process off. Yes, took my lubion at first dose of progesterone along with a pessary.xxx
I was on clexane and steroids, started a few days before transfer. Then was on 150 aspirin too once I got bfpI carried on with clexane all through my pregnancy and 6 weeks after the birth aswell
I started on day of transfer and for six weeks after my baby was born. Also aspirin all the way through though. Have they told if you have a blood condition? As if so it is something you would need to keep an eye on always, this is what happened to me. Without IVF I may have never known x
That’s Debra! They said one of my markers for clotting was ever so slightly raised so they wanted to put me on it as a precaution. As so many ladies are on it from transfer I’m just a little worried that it’s been started too soon. Hopefully I’m just worrying about nothing! Congrats on your little one! xxx
Hey lovely, I was told to start clexane from the day after EC for my fresh cycles and continue through. So it was 1 day after starting progesterone for me both times. Is there supposed to be a risk taking it too soon ? Xxx
Hey Penguin, thanks for your reply. Not that I know of, it just seems so many are told to start on day of transfer that it got me worried that I’m starting too soon. Hopefully I’m just overthinking this! Xxx
I know, it’s so easy to overthink in this process as so many clinics do things differently - for the blood thinners though, as they prevent clotting, I don’t think there is any harm taking them earlier but speak to your doctor if it will help put your mind at ease too xxx
I’ve been taking Clexane & aspirin since starting Progynova on 2 day of my period on a FET cycle. I have no history of thrombosis but history of miscarriages so am assuming the blood thinners will help with my blood not getting too thick to help with implantation?
I was also on lubion and clexane. Started lubion five days before transfer and clexane the day of transfer.I was taking 2x lubion per day and 1x clexane. All the injections do start taking a toll on your tummy. I tried to use my left side for a week then right side for a week to try to give my skin time to recover. I also recommend using arnica cream to help heal the bruising. It was all worth it in the end.
