Lubion and Clexane Injections

Hi

What is the best way to inject Lubion and Clexane? I have been injecting both on my stomach, the injection site is painful and bruises.

Thank you in advance for all responses.

Hi Sabrina! I did lubion and clexane for 12 weeks as luckily this time our treatment worked so I had to stay on meds for the 1st trimester. I used to do it in my stomach too but changing injection sites every night. Some days it bruised some days it didn't. Sometimes I moved lower or higher and more to the side just to give the central part a bit of a rest. Good luck with your treatment!!

hello, if you don’t mind me asking, when you stopped Clexane at 12 weeks did you then take aspirin?

Yes, that's it. But I think they only put me on aspirin because I'm over 40 and a bit overweighted. I don't know if it's normal practice for IVF pregnancies xx

it’s pretty normal for the bruising, especially the clexane, you just have to find a spot that isn’t bruised is my technique! I’ve also found pinching as much of the skin as possible to put the needle in but then letting go before putting the liquid in helped a lot (a nurse showed me this was once for another injection) also going really slow with the liquid going in seemed to help me. Apparently ice helps but I never have time for that when I’m on them twice a day but you could try that too xx

I’ll try that tonight. Thank you

Hi Sabrina! I’ve been on Clexane several weeks. To avoid bruising it’s important to keep the syringe and needle at a 90 degrees angle, so that the needle goes deep inside below the skin. I’ve been putting an ice pack for a few minutes before injecting it and it does help with the pain almost every time 👍.

Ice, ice and more ice! Get a cheap ice pack on Amazon and just always have it in the freezer. I noticed that it really helped to slowly do the injection, maybe taking 30 seconds to do one dose.

I’ve been storing up the ice packs that come with HelloFresh food deliveries for this! You could also freeze a full hot water bottle if got one to hand. Good luck!

Clexane was never as bad as lubion for me. I did switch sides like others have. I found injecting really slowly helped with the lubion. To be fair I probably took the same approach with the clexane. Warming the lubion prior to injection also helped too...as in under your arm or your knee. Good luck.xx
