Sorry if this is a bit gross, but I am sweating so much at night and a lot more in the day. I’m now about 20 days since retrieval, I’ve been home from hospital from OHSS for 10days, but almost every night I’m waking drenched in sweat. My bloods were nearly normal last time, just my inflammation markers slightly high, but they thought that was just them coming down after the UTI I had from hospital/catheter.
I’m still a little uncomfortable in my abdomen. Sitting up from lying down is a real effort as my core feels week. And I get a bit of a niggle on my left side, that hasn’t really gone away since the OHSS although is managed by changing position.
I told my clinic all last time I had a check up (Wed), but they weren’t concerned as I didn’t have a temperature.
My mental health has taken a nose dive, so I’m wondering if the sweating is related to that?
My sleep is very poor at the moment, very broken and this is just another thing that’s waking me up.
Without my sleep my days are just harder and I have to manage the urge to self harm for longer.
Any advice?
I see the clinic tomorrow tomorrow for another OHSS follow up. I still don’t know if I should speak to them about my mental health as well as my physical health.
Sorry for the ramble. I just want to feel better and for life to be more normal/stable again.

Hi Phoebe, I don’t really have many words of wisdom but I didn’t want to read your post and not reply. It sounds like you’ve gone/are going through a tough time - hang in there, things will feel better with time ✨
If you’re feeling low, please speak to someone whether that be a family member or a professional - you don’t need to go through this on your own.
As for sweats, I actually suffer with this myself. Before my miscarriage in March, I’d experience severe cold chills day and night for a few days before my period. They went away after my miscarriage and then started to come back after my last couple of cycles. I’ve just experienced a failed IVF cycle and they’ve been the worst they’ve been in the past few days. Yesterday I had to change my pjs three times within the day.
I’ve been worried about them before and had my hormone levels checked and all okay. I’ve read that it can be a sign of your hormones plummeting really rapidly vs slowly and therefore your inner body temperature struggles to regulate. My consultant actually hasn’t come across this as a symptom before but I’m speaking to her next week and I’ll push for it to be looked at further as it’s distressing and makes me feel unwell.
It can also be linked to anxiety and panic disorder too. If you feel like you’re struggling with your anxiety, then try explore some coping mechanisms to bring your heart rate down. Guided meditation for 10 mins for example can ease the signs of anxiety.
I’d encourage you to talk to someone though, be open about how you feel. Your doctors are there to support you through this.
Hi Phoebe. Oh that's not nice! I would speak with your clinic/GP to see whether a course of oestrogen might just help with the sweats?? Worth asking. Meanwhile just keep up with the extra water to ensure you pass plenty of pale urine. I'm sure you could still take some paracetamol if still uncomfortable, unless you have been prescribed something else. Hope you are soon over this. Diane
