Dealing with constant negative thoughts about treatment

Hello👋🏼👋🏼

I’m currently taking progynova and preparing for my second Frozen Embryo transfer. My first transfer unfortunately didn’t work and we were told we had W chemical pregnancy after having a number of faint positive tests.

I can’t help but keep thinking it isn’t going to work again this time round, I know what my chance of success is.

I was wondering if anyone had any ways of coping with constant thoughts about treatment not working, I want to try and remain as positive as I can in the build up to the transfer.

I found it helps speaking to people who are going through what you are and understand the feelings💜

I am usually very positive before starting the treatment after that my mood gets spoiled and this is also because of many hormones that we are taking. We are just like drug addicts 😅😂😬. I am always saying to myself that it doesn't matter if I will stress too much or not at all the outcome will be the same, just like God wants. So I better calm myself down trying not to think of a good or bad. I am also trying for hormones to not override my emotions. Good luck 🤞😃

I try to stay positive and then I have a bad day and I find it hard again! But you’re right the hormones do add to the feelings I’m sure. Yes it will be, that’s the mind set I’m trying to have what will be will be! Thank you 💜

It is hard to stay positive all the time. Its important to not allow it to consume you, which is easier said than done. I dont think its as simple as being negative, i think its a coping mechanism so that if the disappointment comes then its not just as devastating. I guess do some mindfulness, self care, pick a hobby. Also the best thing to do is talk about it, come on here have a rant and don't keep it bottled up. You will get there. Its bloody hard, but keep at it. Xx

Yeah I’m going to try and find things to help pass the time and keep my distracted. Talking does help a lot, makes you realise you’re not alone! Thank you 💜

Hey hon, I’m sorry to hear about your negative feelings. I’m in the same boat as you, having a transfer next week....I’ve had a mmc at the end of March at 11 weeks so you can imagine how positive I’ve been since ahaha

This time around I’m just trying to ‘keep it real’, I mean....I’m following doctor’s instructions to the letter with meds, eating well, exercising when I can, carrying on with my days...as normal.

I’m doing everything I can do, everything I’m told to do, and this is everything I can control.

I can’t control the outcome of the transfer so not worth stressing about it (I know it’s easy to say!)

Try seeing in this way, we’re doing our best, we’ll what happens and the learning that will come out of this experience will be used to enhance future chances if needed.

Hope this helps wishing you good luck 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Aww I’m sorry to hear that, it’s so hard isn’t it at first to try and be positive. That’s what I’ve been thinking im going to do, I’m just going to take each day as it comes.

Yeah I tell myself what will be will be🤞🏼🤞🏼

Thank you! Good luck to you too 💜💜xxx

Try to be as kind to yourself as you can. Imagine what you would say to a friend in this situation and then tell that to yourself. Treat yourself to nice things where you can. I have been doing acupuncture in prep for IVF and I find that very relaxing. Mindfullness apps are great - I used one 2 years ago for severe insomnia and it was brilliant and made such a difference. I have an IVF one I am going to start next month (Mindful IVF) and that has specific sessions for the different phases so I am hoping that helps xx

That’s a very good way to put it. I’m just going to tell myself things as if I’m telling them to a friend. I’ve thought about acupuncture might have a read in to it. Thank you xx
