Pain in shoulder

Hi all, hope you’re all keeping well.

I went for an early pregnancy scan this morning and everything looked good and on track (6w3days) but I’ve got some pain in my shoulders this evening and tops of my arms. I know this can be related to ectopic pregnancy but I’ve been scanned and this is not the case for me. Has anyone else experienced this or know what it could be ?

Xxx

First of all congratulations!! How did your ovaries look on the scan? Do you suffer with anything like endometriosis or anything in the area of the pelvic region. I remember a few years back a lady on here called Tara i think that's what she was called put together that pain in the shoulder area can be to do with referred pain with things going on in the pelvic region. Makes sense as ectopic they say you can get pain in shoulder. Glad your OK regards ectopic. If it gets too much or it worries you I'd contact midwifes or Gp. Ill see if i can find the post im referring too.

Congratulations again have a happy healthy pregnancy 💗😘

Not sure if I've done it right. I know its not exactly the same as your pregnant but its something that was realised as it would be referred pain from pelvic region, other people realised this also. X

My daughter had this pain in shoulders and arm but she has shortness of breath as well. The hospital told her It can be related to OHSS, eptopic and general pelvic problem Inc water infection. she was in hospital a few weeks ago with it but I would strongly advise you to ring the midwife or clinic as my daughter had OHSS and also had a blood clot on her lung. They can carry out a blood test to check you out. My daughter is doing fine now. She is on a blood thinner that dosent pass through the placenta. She's 11 weeks pregnant and baby is doing well, I'm sure you will be fine but no harm in telling the hospital if your still struggling. Hope you feel better soon xx

Hello

I had shoulder pain about 7 weeks into my current pregnancy. I was worried about ectopic or blood clots. I was also getting pain in my diaphragm. They didnt scan me for ectopic as they said because I had no bleeding and no pelvic pain they said there was no way it would be ectopic. I saw the doctor who said no sign of me having any clots and they put it down to changes in my abdominal cavity from the pregnancy causing referred pain. It cleared up completely after about 10 days. I do have endometriosis. I would check it out with GP/midwife if only to put your mind at rest. This is my second pregnancy and was not with IVF.

Congrats on your pregnancy!

Could be gallbladder related- my husband is a doctor and he said the classic patient profile for first time gallbladder issues is “fertile and forty.” I get gall bladder flares and can manage them by avoiding cheese and high fat foods for a spell.
