IVF - buserelin and gonal-f

Hi folks

Hoping someone can put my mind at rest.

I’ve been injecting buserelin since 1st October and had a scan on the 14th. I started bleeding on the 11th which was a relief as i could them attend my scan as planned. All looked good bar my right ovary. The sonographer said that I had what he thought may be a small cyst but it was too small to be medically classed as one. So he took bloods too.

The clinic contacted me at lunch and didn’t mention the possible cyst but said to keep taking buserelin and also to Start taking gonal f the next day (15th) So now I’m doing both.

I didn’t realise that’s what people were asked to do I always thought you went from one to the other, rather than both. Did anyone else get asked to take both?

Last night I noticed I had some light brown discharge and today it’s still going on. I have more discharge than usual, but it’s a little pinky/browny.

I know you bleeding on buserelin is normal and what they want, but bleeding on gonal f I thought was a bad sign. I mean it’s not a bleed, but there is defo some blood in the discharge giving it a pinky ish colour.

I don’t know whether maybe it’s the back end of my buserelin bleed, or if it’s a bad sign.

I feel a bit like I would if my period was coming though, not crampy, but just that feeling you get when you know you’re going to come on.

I have another scan on Monday where I’m hoping the potential cysts is gone because I will be so upset if we have to abandon the cycle, after feeling like utter poo for the last 2 and a half weeks!

Sorry for the gross post, but just looking for a bit of advice/support.

Hi there, sorry to hear you're having a rough time, no wonder you're feeling poo, buserelin is the worst so well done on getting 2 weeks over with! Just wanted to put your mind at ease that you definitely take both, (up to your trigger injection even) buserelin then stops you ovulating which is why you keep on taking it. Hopefully the bleeding is just the back end of your period, but mention it at your scan. Really really hope you can continue with your cycle and all looks well with your scan 🤞 xx

Hi, I have been on Buserelin for 3 weeks now and start Gonal F next Saturday. I am exhausted but apparently Ginal F will relieve some of the horribleness! I too had a very small cyst but they didn't seem worried at all. Hopefully ok!!

On my schedule it says both! Two injections a day oh bliss!

Same to you! I know. Aren’t we the lucky ones.

Ok, that’s reassuring, I had it in the back of my mind that they’d probably cancel my cycle so hopefully all will be well on Mondays scan.

Yesterday was a particularly bad day. I spent the entire day in bed and I was an emotional wreck. The headaches are bad. Can’t wait for it all just to be over to be honest. I don’t think I’ve even registered in my brain that this might end with a baby weirdly.

I don’t feel very optimistic after the months of negative tests, so it feels like it might be for nothing in my mind. If it does actually work, I will be SO SHOCKED! 😂

Hi Hun,

I can relate to the cyst issue, I had my EC in August on scanning they found a cyst at 22mm it was slightly away from where my follicles were so they knew it was a cyst,, My clinic reassured me, It was nothing to worry about and on EC day they drained it. I used to get niggly pains there so it explained the cysts existence and now the pain has gone. I was also on buserilin and ganol f ,,,, The hormones made me quite stressed unfortunately but no bleeds. I hope this info helps lovely and good luck with your journey Xx

Thank you. Hopefully if it is of concern draining it will be an option. The cyst wasn’t there when I had my initial scan so I assume it must have been the drugs that have caused it to grow.

Praying that It’s smaller tomorrow because that will make me chill out a bit 🧡
