What kind of Progesterone are you ladies on for a Fresh Transfer?

So this is my second go round with EC and I had low progesterone (early bleeding in 2ww) the past transfer and my Dr said I needed to be put on a higher dose for the next transfers (frozen and fresh) this time we are self funded and the nurse is telling me I need to be taking 90mg Crinone and not the 400mg cyclogest the nurse had me prescribed. I’m due a transfer this afternoon and the nurses don’t seem keen to check on this or even test my levels. Is this about right with your fresh cycles? I’ve seen other ladies taking x2 400mg and even a injectable progesterone. I feel like this I transfer is already set up to fail if I’m progesterone is too low.

I was on x2 400 Cyclogest from egg collection to 12 weeks pregnant. But I feel my clinic almost do this as standard. My bloods were taken when I was going through all my initial tests and then my progesterone levels were never checked again! I had a little bit of bleeding at 5 weeks and they were going to up my does to x3 a day, but when the bleeding stopped they said to carry on as I was.

Talk to them when you get to clinic today. You can even ask your doctor as he will be there for the transfer.

Wishing you all the luck with your transfer. Xx

Thanks for your response. It did help, I’m going to talk to them when I go in for transfer later and see if I can get the go ahead to change to cyclogest. I know I need to trust the specialists but I just have a gut feeling the nurses are palming me off a bit.

Hi, can you not ask them to test your levels and make it clear you’re happy to pay? I’ve had tests for my last 2 transfers (fresh & frozen) as it was a niggle that I wanted to put to bed! If it’s something you’re worried about push them as it’s an easy thing to check and either put your mind at ease or change your dose. I was on 200mg 3 times a day for my fresh transfer and 400mg twice a day + Lubion for my latest frozen transfer. It wasn’t adjusted on either cycle as my results were fine but having it checked put my mind at ease xx

Thanks 😊 I asked the nurse this morning if I could have a progesterone test and she said the results won’t be in till tomorrow and I’ll have to freeze embryos and not have a transfer today if I’m that worried. I’ll try and talk to the DR before transfer later. X

So sorry to hear this, maybe this is the clinics approach to it? I always flagged that I wanted a progesterone test in the run up to transfer and they tested pre transfer. I’ve always been able to go ahead and yes the results were in the next day (in one instance they were in on the Tuesday) after a Saturday transfer. The Consultant can review the results and increase your progesterone if needed. Really hope you manage to get it sorted and the Consultant is more supportive. Sorry to hear this is adding stress to this process when it doesn’t need to xx

Hi Rebecca, I have had heavy bleeding from 7dp5dt twice on fresh cycles. I'll be prescribed 2x lubion, 6 x utrogestan oral and 2 x crinone daily for my FET. I think this is a particularly large amount of progesterone but I do see ladies at private clinics prescribed 3 x utogestan vaginal per day plus 1 injection of lubion as standard. I hope your transfer goes well and you have the opportunity to speak with the doctor x

Hi Rebecca, one of my cycles I had 2 400mg cyclogest pessaries, and I had bleeding in my 2ww. The next cycle at my new clinic, I told them this and they also prescribed me 1 x lubion injection daily additional to the pessaries. I didnt have my levels checked, but have been told that your body only absorbs what it needs, and so its better to have too much than too little. This cycle worked for me, although sadly ended in miscarriage, I will definitely be having the same again next time. You could always ask to have extra pessaries to put your mind at ease. Good Luck xx

Hello, for my first cycle I had 2x400mg cyclogest and 2 Lubion injections. I’ll be doing the same this time round also. Even though I had a negative, I didn’t bleed until a few days after I stopped the meds x

Sorry forgot to add, I had my bloods tested the day of transfer and then it was tested 1 week after that due to high white blood cell count but was told all other levels looked fine.
