Progesterone

Hello, does anyone know what you’re progesterone levels should be after ovulation? There seems to be varying results on google. I’ve had mine back from day 22 and it’s 12 (I’m assuming mg). Thanks x

Thank you Florencenightingale. My nurse said the same. Plus the NHS says 30 too. My consultant however thinks 15 is fine 🤷‍♀️

Anything over around 11 or 12 indicates ovulation has occurred. Anything above 30 is usually used to indicate a 'good' progesterone level that would support pregnancy, but that seems to be more open to discussion!

Thanks Purpledoggy. I have my suspicions that I’m low progesterone maybe. I’m having another blood test done tomorrow (day 26) to see if it’s any different. Xx

By day 26 it is likely to be significantly lower if you are not pregnant as it peaks at d21 of a 28d cycle. Mine is a little low (27 nmol/L) on d21 of what ended up being a 26d cycle. My ovulation kit (LH peak) suggested I ovulated on d13, so I think it would have been better to do mine on d20. However, I spot for 5 days before my period so I suspect I am a bit low. Your consultant should be advising you on the best day to do it anyway xx

Mine was 7 on day16 and 25 on day25. They said it was ok...I was having long periods at that time. Xx

Thanks Florencenightingale - that’s interesting. My periods are fairly mixed. Looking back over the last year, I had 11 cycles that generally lasted anywhere between 30-33 days, with some anomalies- 25, 28, 35, 36 & 42. So it’s really hard for me to predict when my period is coming & when my progesterone levels should peak. When I’ve used ovi-sticks in the past, they‘ve been a bit frustrating for me. Having my progesterone checked again today with my GP (day 26), along with androgen/LH/FSH so hopefully it will tell me something!

Yeah mine were anywhere between 26 and 36 days. I was found to have thyroid antibodies (hashimotos), was started on levothyroxine 25mcg and they regulated to 28-30 days. Good luck xxx
