Progesterone pessaries

Hello lovelies

Preparing ahead..how do you decide what time to insert the pessaries, given 30mins to lie down after.

From past experience it was 2x in the morning (8am) and 2x evening (8pm).

How precise do you have to be with these ?

Does it have to be exactly 12hrs apart or can it be longer?

Read somewhere it should be the same time everyday.

Any suggestions as to what time you choose would be super helpful. Thanks!

My clinic said (roughly) 12 hours apart but if for some reason you are a bit earlier or a bit later doing them it’s not a problem as long as the doses are spaced out evenly to ensure your progesterone stays at the same level. I think I was a bit out a few times and it wasn’t a problem.

Have you asked your clinic if you can do them rectally? It’s honestly so much easier, no discharge and you don’t have to lie down afterwards! Made it so much easier to get the timing right. I was able to do them on the go if needed x

Haven't asked yet. But will do. Have read its easier. Just thinking if the absorption of progesterone is faster /slower /same /better/worse.. too many things to think about :(

Hey,

I believe you can take them what ever is best for you to be honest. Personal preference.

I am taking my pessaries cyclogest 400mg, 1 in the morning rectally (not laying down for 30 minuets) and 1 in an evening vaginally and laying down 30 for minuets.

Vaginally is more messy for sure, so I would advise a thin panty liner.

On transfer day, I did them both rectally. If I am feeling a little bit sensitive down in my V then I do both rectally that day too.

Sorry to be personal and hope your not offended at all🥰

Thank you for replying.. absolutely not offended. The advice given here means a lot so no space for offence...at least for me :)

Rectally seems to have more votes so definitely asking clinic.

BTW.. how are you feeling in the tww? have you caved into testing ? I wish you all the luck to get the positive !!!! xx

I agree rectally does seem to be the most popular, but I can totally see why to be honest. Far less mess!! 🤗

Very up at down, honestly one minuet I am feeling positive and like I have done everything I can possibly can, what will be will be. You know eat all the right foods, keep hydrated, keep feet warm and walking daily for exercise.

Then these moments of doubt creep up and feel the panic set in and keep going to the toilet to check my period has not come. Feeling little anxious 😬 Trying to stay off Google. It’s hard.

But I am keeping everything crossed 🤞🏼 and no early testing for me. Going to ride it out.

Thank you 😊 🙏

Not long now..good luck x

Agree with the other two, in fact Greyeverything pretty much wrote what I was going to write! Definitely do them rectally as no need to lie down and no mess, and you can be reasonably flexible with timing so I used to do them as soon as I got up and then again early evening but its no great drama if its more than 12 hours apart x

This is our 6th round and 1st with a new clinic who advised us to use them rectally. Makes so much more sense, no mess, no need to lie down. I put one in at 7am as soon as I get up and 1 in between 7-8pm in the evening x

I think it depends which pessaries you are on. I was on Lutigest and they can only be taken vaginally. However I was told there was no need to lie down or anything so I would just insert and carry on with my day. Panty liners are your friend though! Good luck! Xx

Hey

Was just coming to reply and say the same as Buttercup. I was on some which also couldn't be taken rectally and while tried when possible to sit for 30 mins after it wasn't always possible with work. I was told that was okay and not to beat myself up about it. I had a successful round so must have been alright! Agree pantyliners are a must with these knicker destroyers as someone rightfully called them 😂

Wishing you loads of luck and hope it works for you 😊
