I didn’t have my levels checked for my first 3 failed transfers - I did ask them to do it for my final one. I was on 3x 400mg cyclogest pessaries for 5 days before transfer and on transfer day mine was 150 which the clinic said was the highest they’d ever seen (they usually want over 50) . I’m now pregnant with twins and convinced such high levels helped both stick

Oh ok thanks I am such a worry guts , my last fet in March I was on 2x Lubion and 1 cyclogest I didn’t bleed , like I did before in my 2 week wait , but it was another chemical, that’s all I seem to get . Thanks 😘😘😘

I actually don’t know! But when I googled, this is what I found:

During an ET, the embryo(s) is passed through the cervix by means of a catheter. Many variables affect the chance of pregnancy after ET, including embryo quality, uterine factors and the embryo transfer technique. High levels of bacteria and other organisms in the upper genital tract have a detrimental effect on pregnancy rate after ET. Administration of antibiotics prior to ET may reduce the growth of these organisms and improve the outcomes of IVF.

Can you pay the clinic to test you even though the don’t do it as standard? I think switching to prontogest was what got me pregnant after 8 embryos being transferred- check my previous posts on progesterone x

Hi Scarlett!

I actually wanted to say thank you to you for that post you did on progesterone. I was in despair after 3 failed transfers (with good blasts) And bleeding early during one of them. I started researching about progesterone and came across your post. It made me question the whole pessaries thing and lack of testing, but the clinic wouldn’t hear it. They only let me use it twice a week and supplement with pessaries for the 4th transfer. And I don’t think it was enough! Anyway, we moved to the US and here 99% of clinics use progesterone in oil because it’s the most effective form. And they also routinely test it day before transfer and 5 and 12 days after transfer. We just did an FET and looks like it stuck! I think it’s largely because of the right form of progesterone! Thank you for that post, it was the start of me finally understanding the potential reason for so many fails.

I’m so glad to hear that you found my post helpful! I used to get so frustrated that my clinic wasn’t testing levels after all my research suggested that it should be done. Glad to hear clinics in the US are more on the ball with oil and testing! I have everything crossed for you and your latest transfer xxxxxxx

My clinic said anything over 30 should be enough but that over 50 was ideal and beyond 90 was a waste. I can’t remember exactly now but my level was something like 4 when I did Lubion and rocketed to 90 I think when I got tested and switched to prontogest and then surprise surprise I got pregnant after so many embryos failed to implant...leaving me guessing it was down to the progesterone issue x

Oh thanks so much, I just paid for my drugs today including the Lubion, I always thought Lubion was the best , where do you inject the prontogest ? And how many times a day does it cost the same as Lubion? I was on 2xlubion , 1 cyclogest for my last go ,

I wonder if I could change it now , i not sure I hope so xxxx

My clinic told me their research shows that prontogest is the best as it’s an oil straight into the muscle (butt cheek), followed by pessaries, and then lubion. But your clinic may have different results/research/opinions? I did it once a day, more pricey than lubion but I can’t remember by how much I’m afraid. Xxx

Oh ok , well this is my last attempt no 7 only 1 embryo left so throwing everything at this one , I am with care Clinc bath , i phone tomorrow and ask they never mentioned any other different ones , but they are really nice and willing to listen, even though they don’t test for progesterone, I was going to get it done somewhere else and email results, as I live in Essex and Clinc is at bath , so I had my last scans nearer home and sent to them xxxx

That’s such a huge change - from 4 to 90! I just can’t believe testing isn’t part of the protocol you know?

My level yesterday 12dp5dt was 48 and the doctor seemed to be pleased with it. Do you think I should push for more just in case? I’m on 2x daily injections

Scarlett13 profile image
Scarlett13 in reply toLisichka

That’s a good level but I don’t think adding in a couple of pessaries could hurt? Discuss with the doctor? X

Listen to Scarlett. I increased my progestrone dose when mine came back at 20 day before transfer. I am sure the increased progestrone made all the difference. It was scarlett post that made the difference for me too.
