High, medium, low IVF medication dose and cost

Hi all,

On my first failed cycle I had AMH 20 and responded well to the drug protocol (20 eggs produced, though quality not so good and only 3 blastocysts). I don't have a consultation for FET for a while and in the meantime I'm wondering how relatively high my drug protocol was?

- I am 41 and had Merifert FSH injection (300 for X3 days, 225 for x7 days). I had fyremadol for suppression, then HCG Tigger injection was x1 5000IU Gonasi injection (10,000 was planned but later not advised). Just wondering if this appears to be a low/medium/high drug dose protocol, compared to what other ladies have had?

Also, I'm wondering if this protocol might be on the lower of higher end of £700-1500 medications required for a future private cycle?

Appreciate that everyone is different, with personalised protocols, drugs may differ and I need to ask a clinician etc. Just looking for a general indication of how high these drug doses appear to be, relative to others on a similar, short cycle protocol.

Any thoughts appreciated,

Hope everyone is doing so and all the best of luck 💖💖

Thanks!

That's almost exactly what I had aged 40 and I think for our age range it's medium dosage - unfortunately cost-wise it was definitely on the high end of the price range you're quoting there xx

I’d say that was a high dose

I did short protocol IVF and that was 225ml of bemfola only and cetrotide as required depending on LH levels

With natural modified IVF I was on 150ml Bemfola or 75ml Bemfola and 75ml Luveris

My drugs were around £750

Maybe you could try shopping around a little, Asda pharmacy is so much cheaper for fertility medication and it could save you loads of money, i managed to cut the cost with a couple of hundred of pounds...and during this journey every penny counts... good luck xx

Thanks for this info💖. I hadn't realised that it was possible to get the drugs from places other than the clinic. Are clinics generally ok with this? I presume Asda only provide individual quotes based on a prescription? and don't have a price list online (not found one anyway)?

Hi there, I was on short cycle with 225 Menopur and 225 Bemfola which I understand was the highest dosage levels (450 in total). My AMH was 12 so they had considered a lower dosage (350) but because of my age (41), they decided on the max. I also had the 10,000 Gonasi. My second cycle will need to be funded privately and I'm expecting it to be pricey. I've heard of others using different pharmacies than the one provided by the clinic - so should be OK. Hope this helps xx
