Hi, in October we are going to be going for our third round of ICSI.
I am 37 years old, and have a AMH level of 2.0 but that test was taken a year ago so I may have a lower AMH level now.
On the first cycle i was put on 450 GonalF on a long protocol. Only one follicle grew to the right size, and one mature egg and one immature egg was retrieved. Neither fertilised.
On our second cycle I was put on 450 Menopur on a short cycle. 4 good sized follicles but still only one mature egg and one immature egg was retrieved. But the mature egg seemed a good quality and fertilised. But unfortunately a BFN.
My Dr has told me I can only expect one egg each cycle 😔
I would like to know people's stories about using a High Vs Low stim. As I am thinking of asking our dr to put me on a lower dose of Menopur on a short cycle this time round.
I've tried to do some research into it but can't really find anything. So am hoping some women have there own stores about using High doses and low dose of stims and what worked best for them?
And if any of you did find anything while researching it themselves if they could please share the page with me?
Thank you all in advance xx

Have a look back through my old posts I did terribly on 450iu With AMH of 2.7 Then I got more eggs and embryos on 150iu And they were better quality. One round I got six eggs and five blasts on 150iu. My high-dose rounds were a disaster!
Hi, thanks for your reply. Awwww wow it sounds like it made a big difference for you. I'm leaning towards the lower dose it's just such a hard decision as I don't want to get anything wrong and screw up our Ivf Cycle. I did look at your old posts, do you know which title it is under about your high and low stims? Going through your posts i can see you've been through so much I'm so sorry, you've had to fight so hard. Baby dust to you xx
Personally, my AMH is probably around 10 or so (hasn't been tested for 18 months or so, it was around 13) and I do much better on 225iu, we tried a cycle on 300iu and I had major problems with egg quality that round x
Hi thanks for your reply. That's my focus is egg quality. Don't get me wrong I'd be over the moon to get more than one mature egg but since I've been told that's not going to happen I really want my one egg to be of top quality to givevus the best chance possible. Thank you for your story of your experience xx
1st cycle 2018 - long protocol, 11 eggs all mature. 5 blasts. BFP, daughter born.
2nd cycle 2020 - short protocol, Menopur 450, 7 eggs, 5 mature, 2 fertilised, double day 3 transfer, BFN
3rd cycle 2020 - short protocol, Menopur 450, 5 eggs, 2 mature, 1 fertilised, one day 2 transfer, BFN
4th cycle 2021 - long protocol, Pergoveris 200, 16 eggs, 13 mature, 11 fertilised, 4 blasts. All PGS tested and abnormal.
The two short protocols I did were awful. I was on high dose Menopur. And both times eggs were collected around day 9-10. For me a long protocol was better with low dose suppression and moderate dose stims but for a bit longer with EC day 14. And double trigger!
My AMH is 1ng/ml .. I've had four cycles with 150 gonal and 75 menopur where I got max three eggs. When I did one cycle with 225 gonal and 150 menopur it made no difference apart from me feeling much more tired. I just got one egg that time when I have done better on lower doses. I should soon be starting a new cycle and I want to ask about having even milder medication as from what I had read it may work better.
Hi sparkle183! I don’t know if this will help, but my AMH was 3.6 and FSH was 17 when I started at the beginning of the year. They put me on pretty high doses for my first cycle. I only had 3 follicles of roughly the right size and they only collected one egg and it was immature. This time they switched me to mild IVF and I did so much better! They medicated me to get my FSH down and we got 5 mature eggs this time and 2 5day blastocysts. I also took more supplements. Hope that helps and wishing you all the best and let me know if you have any questions! 😊 x
