37yr +blocked tube + male mobility issues...what’s next?

Hi all - new here. I did and hsg that showed a blocked Fallopian tube, my bloodwork was all good, and a bit of endometriosis plus my partner has taken two tests both showing sperm motility issues. I am already 37 and have been trying for almost two years. Originally the dr mentioned starting clomid and trying IUI, but now she has said he needs to go to urologist first before coming back. Is that normal? I think I am being impatient and wanted to try IUI, but feel like we are being delayed by going to another dr. Any thoughts?

Welcome! I’m sure it’s frustrating to have to see another doctor but I’d be tempted to listen to the experts. If there are issues with sperm then seeing an urologist seems perfectly sensible to me. If you want to speed things up, you could perhaps see an urologist privately rather than wait on the NHS. I’ve no experience of this but some people on here will be able to advise! Best of luck! Xx

Thank you so much. I will look for a private rather than waiting!

I WISH we had been referred to a urologist at the start. It would have saved us two and a half years of unsuccessful treatments (during which I've gone from 38 to 41 with our chances dropping all the time) xx

LCharlton Wow! We also waited 2 years for appointments to an urologist and endocrinologist 😤☹️ crazy! I thought we been the unlucky ones but it is actually a trend ...

Hidden try IUI while waiting for an urologist if it is possible (push hard for that) or go to a privat one. Don't waste your time as it is so precious ♥️

We did go to a private one, but not till way too late because everyone kept telling us there was no point and we just needed ICSI xx

Thank you! I know I am being impatient and wish this could all happen faster.

Hi welcome. Its good they found an ‘issue’ instead labelling you as unexplained (me and many others here). So they can tailor your treatment. Im 34 and was trying 2 years when i was referred to ivf and doctor skipped iui saying if you havent conceived in 2 years iuis wont do it. X

Yes - you are right that I am lucky that I know my issues and Can form a plan. I think that is why I am anxious. I was ready for the next steps, but now being told that I have to wait longer and go to other doctors. Again. I know I am being impatient but ready to figure out next steps.

Further question...if we know I have slight endo and they initially thought I had PCOS because I have a lot of follicles, plus a blocked tube, plus mobility issues would that not be enough to form an action plan/next step? I guess what I am confused about is what would the urologist say that would alter the course of action? Thanks again for all of your input...this is a really helpful place to ask dumb questions because otherwise I am just googling everything!
