I just have a few questions please, I had my base line scan last week and I have been informed I have a small cyst on left ovary and my only tube remaining is showing signs of being blocked. I have been told to have a period and come back for another base line scan after this to see if this changes.
My question is I am due to have FET will this effect my transfer in anyway and is it dangerous because of the blocked tube?
Thanks again xx 😘

Hmmm i was advised to get my tubes removed before FET, as they said it could have a negative impact on pregnancy. But to what extend it holds truth, I am not sure. I did go along with removing them, as I also had some endometriosis stage 1 (only), and the benefit of doing so was much less pain and stable cycles. ☺️ not sure it helps.
I am based in France, where we have private health insurance with our employer, and my IVF doctor is also a surgeon, hence everything happened quite fast. I was lucky 🤞🏼wishing you all the best of luck.
Hi Faith103I had a blocked tube so had to have this clipped so that it didn’t impact on our ivf attempt as it was filled with fluid and I have stage 4 severe endometriosis. Despite the pandemic our clinic was amazing and from baseline scan to operation I only had to wait 6 months and we’ve now started our first round a month later. Each person is different but I would definitely ask if it would have a negative impact and whether surgery would be the way forward.
I have blocked and fluid filled tubes so waiting to have that removed before FET. They said the fluid is toxic to embryo. I am due to have the surgery in these coming two months - have been waiting since April 2021. Also got endo stage 4
I am hoping after a period this clears up. They said sometimes it can clear up. They think because I was ovulating when they did the scan they think my cyst may have been leaking and causing the fluid. They did say once I’m on meds the cyst should shrink and not leak xx fingers crossed 🤞 Good luck to you and I hope your op goes well
I had surgery in June to clip my right tube as hyrosalphinx as they said it would highly increase my chances of IVF being successful. This is due to the toxic fluid being about to run in and out of the uterus. I also have stage 4 endo. I hope they advise you on what to do soon and that you’re not waiting around too long. Wishing you lots of luck x
I too have severe endo but my experience is a little different. I was told after a laparoscopy that I had a blocked tube (HSG carried out during surgery) and a cyst on ovary. The cyst was removed but had to have another HSG to confirm blockage.. only this time it was the OTHER tube that appeared blocked (with one working). Because they couldn’t work out which one was problematic the decision was made to leave them both… I was really worried starting IVF because I too read it could have a negative effect. As it happens by the time that came round ANOTHER cyst had formed on the ovary. First transfer failed (I think due to other factors) but I am now pregnant…
Might have been more naivety than risk on my part tbh. I just took the docs at their word. They said they couldn’t risk removing both as one was likely healthy tissue but it shouldn’t stop me going ahead. I was also shocked that the cyst had returned and my ovary had moved right back behind my uterus by the time I started treatment but again no one seemed bothered… so i just trusted them and want along with it. I think it’s worthwhile you having a discussion around risk Vs benefits of going ahead as is/ removal. You may find that your situation is similar to mine and they’re happy to continue but bear in mind that there’s evidence that removal of blocked tubes is beneficial to successful pregnancy.
Hi, I recently became pregnant after 6 cycles of IVF. Before those cycles I had a lap which removed a large cyst and checked my Fallopian tubes which at the time wheee both clear. However inbetween during cycle 5 fluid around my ovaries was seen. I had a lap and sure enough one of my tubes was blocked so this was removed (although he left a bit at the fimbral end near the ovary still there so I didn’t lose ovarian tissue). I fell pregnant the FET we had after this (transfer number 9). Xx
