Ok, so I had a scratch and the following FET we were unsuccessful. I then had a biopsy x2 for the era and my consultant said that that was equivalent to a scratch and I got our 1st positive but unfortunately I had an early miscarriage. I have had one for our final attempt... because I just don’t know...butIt is a quick procedure.... uncomfortable... I take some analgesia 30 mins before... I had like period cramps for a few hours later and a bit of spotting and I will be honest I had the day off so I could just come home and take it easy! I was also put on a course of antibiotics post procedure. I am told it lasts for 6months.

The research is hit and miss.... but we have just thrown everything at it....

The first time we paid £100 this has now gone up to £150.

Hope this helps and good luck xx

Thank you! I believe it’s £300 at my clinic but given how expensive the whole process is it doesn’t seem to make a big difference. Sorry for your loss ❤️x

Hiya, I had it done on two of my attempts. It was in 2018, but I don’t recall it being painful. I looked a video of it on line beforehand to see what it was about but when I actually went to have it done I do remember thinking it was surprisingly quick. Agree with what Willow1976 said, medical community are divided over its effectiveness.

Good luck with your round x

Thank you although I’m such a wimp I actually find the transfer painful so I’m sure it’ll hurt me 😂x

Lol, I’m sure it’ll be fine. To be fair I found my last transfer painful - I think I was probably a bit tense too, which doesn’t help. My previous transfer wasn’t too painful though - I kept my bladder fairly full beforehand as I believe that helps! I forgot this time and only remembered when he was in the middle of putting the embryo back! 🙄

Hi I'm following as my situation is exactly the same as you. Two fails and going to do scratch for third attempt. Are you doing a fresh or FET? Xx

FET, I had my egg collection in feb but did a freeze all because I over stimulated. Did a medicated FET June and had a chemical and exactly the same protocol FET a few weeks ago BFN. Used my two best embryos and so upset. Going to ask them to change the protocol too might try a natural one. How about you? X

Hi Mary, I'm sorry to hear bout your previous cycles 😔 My fresh transfer in November ended in a chemical and medicated FET in July also ended in a chemical. I also used my two best but have two left in the freezer (4AA and 5AB) so going to transfer two this time. I've also been offered a natural cycle this time but it makes me feel uneasy as they don't trigger ovulation and go by OPK 😬 so I'm leaning against another medicated FET. Going by dates it look like I'll be transferring beginning on November. What about you? Xxx

I don’t know I haven’t had my consult yet but I think my clinic likes to wait between medical and natural cycles so maybe not till January 😭

I’m sure they told me at one of my consults that it was OpkS at mine too x

Google pipelle study done by Auckland University unfortunately the study found no benefit from scratch. They stopped offering it down here in NZ but I think it was the best thing we ever did. It hurts for 30 seconds, take 2 pain relief an HR before to procedure. First round of IVF was horrible and did not get scratch 2nd round scratch with FET and frozen both worked with the last embryo still in the freezer. All the best and wishing you good luck this round

I have tried this 3 times and it didnt do me any good, mine did hurt (but its quick) so if you go for it take strong painkiller prior and take a panty liner for any spotting afterwards. There was actually a recent big study from the UK published and it showed that there was no improvement on the live birth rate. I understand why you want to throw everything at it though, this is bloody hard going and you dont want to have regrets either. Here is a link to the article for your info.xxx

Hi Mary c32 , I am in the same boat I had it in November I did get pregnant but had a chemical, then I didn’t have it in March , I was just out the time line it works for , but I still got pregnant and had another chemical.

Now this is my last go 7 attempt, but I don’t think I am going to have it , my consultant thinks it makes no difference, and the study’s say similar. But if you do. Have it take painkillers I was in a lot of pain after , the doctor thinks my body went in to shock after , it’s so hard to know what to do ,

And at the minute I am thinking of having the glue this time but not sure if it’s going to help xxxx

Thanks love! I didn’t have the glue the first time and had chemical, had it second time and BFN. So again maybe random. There’s one study to think that says the glue helps but my clinic says no difference x

Thank you I think we all get so desperate to try these things but I really think it all boils down to the embryo, some take and some don’t , it’s hard because we think maybe the fault it ours but sometimes that’s not the case , best of luck let us know how you get on xxxx
