Did anyone stop drinking fizzy drinks after their embryo transfer?
I followed all the NHS guidelines after my last transfer of what to avoid eating during pregnancy etc but I also read on other platforms that fizzy drinks should be avoided. Most of my friends who have had children said they never did such a thing!
I have cut caffeine and only drink one decaffeinated fizzy drink a day (such as Fanta or decaf Diet Coke). After my last transfer I stopped fizzy drinks completely out of paranoia but that ended in a chemical pregnancy. Do I really need to be as paranoid second time around?!

Hey I think sometimes we go to far with ivf I mean as your friends said no one does that when they get pregnant naturally I think it’s more caffeine you need to worry about I will say when I had my son on my 4th cycle throughout my pregnancy I drank coke my whole pregnancy it was the only thing that helped my sickness I wish you lots of luck xxx
I continued with fizzy drinks just switched to decaff Pepsi.
To be honest I didn’t change much lifestyle wise other than switching to decaff. I wouldn’t say I’m healthy and good at eating lots of fruit and veg but I’m not really bad either but I thought it’s tough enough going through IVF I didn’t want to change too much xx
Decaff Diet Coke isn’t Available in the U.K. anymore? But I would have continued with that if it was but only if it didn’t contain aspartame. I did stop all diet drinks and Coke Zero as they contain aspartame and there has been some studies which showed drinking diet drinks could reduce success rates by as much as 25% but it was a small study and can’t remember how much was “too much” to be drinking
Hi anz I been eating lot of sweets, ice creams and sometimes fizzy drinks too as I decided to have one 7 up or Mountain Dew and I am not health freak plus through ivf we already been v strict and hard on us so as for as it’s not too many coffee cups a day you are fine as I been doing this although my midwife warned me not to have too many sweets but I eat and drink what my body wants 🤭😄
I think you should follow healthy guideline it does not mean that once it failed so always will be.... Personally I quit all these things before starting ivf although I m crazy for ice-cream but after transfer I didn't take it... So it depends on all your willpower what you can leave or not... Any way best of luck💖💖💞💞
I don’t agree that it depends on ‘will power’ it depends on what is right for you personally on what is already a tough life changing journey. Anything outside of nhs guidelines is own personal choice and doesn’t make anyone’s ‘will power’ stronger than anothers in my opinion. Far too much pressure put on people on what to eat and not to eat through unproven theories or small samples (Some which contradict each other). If it was proven the NHS would recommend it. Suggesting someone drinking a glass of decaf fizzy juice or ice cream means they have less ‘will power’ than you is very dangerous 😢 And whilst for some people makes them feel in control and empowered on their journey for other can cause unnecessary stress and anxiety. Let’s be kind and careful with our choice of words xx
I m not giving any wrong advices here people just share there experiences what I did.... If any one hurt by my post or by reply I apologise frome core of my hurt and I mean that..... Just review your reply and then honestly decide who is giving tension and anxiety????
Of course we all give our own experience and that’s not my point. My point was only around the one part of you post as it says it depends on your ‘will power‘ To me it makes it feel like a person has failed in some way or is not strong enough. All I am saying is I don't agree with that and commenting on peoples eating habits by implying they don’t have willpower. The tension and anxiety I was talking about generally exists for some already not that your post is causing it. I just wanted someone reading that post now or in the future to have an alternative view on the ‘will power’ opinion. Your opinion is as valid as mine and I am sure some people will agree with you, I just want to make sure others that may need it have the alternative point of view xx
Hi sweets. Fizzy drinks are my guilty pleasure. I cut out tea and coffee completely but struggled with fizzy drinks. I went on the decafe stuff too before transfer. But during pregnancy I have craved them hugely. I've drunk a lot of ginger ale and diet coke. Ginger ale was the only thing that helped my sickness for a while. While i dont think fizzy drinks are great for you I dont think they are make or break for implantation.
