12 week scan next week and feeling super anxious !

Hi everyone. This is my first time messaging on this forum. I hope you all are doing well.

I have my dating scan next week and I’m feeling super nervous due to my lack of symptoms!. When I have my dating scan I Should be 13 weeks 4 days. I had a 5dt on 25th of June and I have had a very nerve wrecking pregnancy so far. Started spotting close to 7 weeks and had a scan at epu around then and everything was fine. Then on the same day they did a TV scan a few hours later I had a massive bleed with heavy clots. I rushed back to epu and had a abdominal scan and was told baby was fine and I possibly could be having a threatened miscarriage. I then had a private scan a week later (8 weeks 5) and baby was fine and bleeding settled. I then had a 9 week 5 scan at epu and again was told baby was doing well. The sonographer insisted doing a vaginal scan and I refused because at 7 weeks I think when they did the vaginal scan to look for causes of bleed the sonographer dislodged something and it caused me to have a bleed.

So my last scan was 9 weeks 5. I haven’t had much of symptoms apart from breast tenderness and even that’s settled. No nausea, sickness, headaches etc... my dating scan next week will be past 13 weeks and I’m terrified that there will be no heartbeat. Everyday I’m just feeling so anxious. It’s my first pregnancy and first successful FET after 2.5 years of trying to conceive. I’ve been told to stop my progresterone and estradiol at 10 weeks and I’ve been told By midwife and consultant to start taking aspirin 150mg daily from 12 weeks. I must admit I’m too scared to start this as I fear further bleeding. I just want some reassurance. I am sorry for this long essay !

Hi,

Seems like we’re transfer buddies- I had my 5dt on 25th June as well and am also due my dating scan next week at 13+4! I’m sorry you’re anxious but I’m not surprised after having such a stressful pregnancy so far. That sounds so tough.

I don’t have much advice -I’m also struggling with anxiety as I’ve had a couple of first trimester miscarriages. Just trying to take it one day at a time and keep my mind occupied with other things but it’s really tough. Nearly there now though but I’m sure I will still be freaking out on the day.

I had my last scan at 10+3 due to some spotting and everything was fine then but had felt like such a long wait since then.

If it makes you feel any better I haven’t really had any symptoms for the last 2-3 weeks now, even my fatigue has settled. I think symptoms can settle towards the end of the first trimester. I did a Doppler a week ago and found a heartbeat so I’m hoping that all is ok despite lack of symptoms.

Good luck for your scan- I’m sure everything will be fine!

Hiya,

Yes we definitely are transfer buddies ! I am really sorry to hear about your first trimester miscarriages. That must be awful to deal with. I can’t even imagine that.

How coincidental that we both have our dating scan on the same day! I hope your scan day goes well :) I wish you all the best! Hopefully we both have good news to share together.

Yes I did imagine the symptom would settle but in my mind I’m it’s a catch 22. I get symptoms I fear the worse and I get none and I feel panicked. I’m hoping after the dating scan I can relax a bit. I’ve been sleeping and eating well and I don’t know why I feel I shouldn’t be.

Good luck for your scan too !

Hi PA. Lots of early bleeding is often down to the development of the placenta, which isn't there in the beginning. It is a chorionic villii changing into what will be your baby's placenta. Hopefully all will look fine when you have your scan, and you will be comforted by the strong white bones you see - and teeth if you look hard enough! Just remember that your specialist wants your pregnancy to progress normally too, so trust him/her. Thinking of you. Diane

Thank you for the reassurance Diane! I really do hope it will all be ok and my anxiety turns out to be for nothing. I did have on off bleeding for 6 weeks but since I stopped the progresterone and estradiol the bleed has stopped. Just counting down days to the scan next week. Just want to relax. Thank you for your reply x
