After testing pregnant I experienced light bleeding which made me worried and I called my fertility clinic who told me it was too early to get scanned so had to wait.
I went in the 6th week and got scanned (clear blue told me I was 2 to 3 weeks which is 5 weeks I think) and was told by the sonographer that I had miscarried. She told me my uterus was tilted but there no sign of an eptopic.
Since I have been still bleeding very very light with no cramps or pains. I have got my HGC blood tests done by the clinc and they have risen from 4000 to 6000 to 9000.
I have now been referred to EPU who will scan me as they said it is an eptopic pregnancy.
I have no clue what is going on?
Could I have been too early for the scan for anything to be seen? She only spent 5 mins looking then shut everything down it was very fast.
Just want to know if anyone has been in this type of situation.
Thanks x

Hi Bosta. This happened to me, clinic said they thought it was eptopic but couldn’t find the embryo - hormones were rising. Got referrred to an EPU who still couldn’t find it but said it was so early they didn’t expect to see the embryo at this stage. In the end the pregnancy wasn’t eptopic, I miscarried as my hormones dropped but they never saw the embryo on the scan. My body didn’t need any drugs from the EPU.
Yes I went to the clinic every 48 hours for repeat bloods. By the end of the week my hormones had dropped (they originally weren’t rising like they should) xx
Hello. I'm very sorry you're going through this, it sounds like an ectopic to me based on my similar experience.
I've only fallen pregnant naturally once and when I started bleeding I went for a scan in the EPU. They couldn't find anything and said I must have miscarried. They did a blood test that day but couldn't do another one 48 hours later as I was going on holiday, but they said they couldn't see anything on the scan so were happy it was a miscarriage and not an ectopic. I had a follow up after I got back and HCG levels were through the roof. Turned out it was an ectopic and my tube had to be removed because it had become so damaged during the pregnancy.
Make sure you advocate for yourself to get answers sooner than I did, so there won't be damage to your tube (if that's where the ectopic is). If I'd asked more questions on the day maybe I wouldn't have gone on holiday and maybe they could have kept my tube if we'd found out sooner. Hoping you get answers soon x
Did the EPU say it was definitely ectopic or did they say it might be, or that they didn't know where the pregnancy was/could see something but not sure it was viable or call it a pregnancy of unknown location? It's just that if it's an ectopic that's normally a medical emergency and usually they act pretty fast as often it needs medical management and surgery. With a transfer I had earlier this year, something similar happened and the HCG was rising but not regularly doubling, and they couldn't see an embryo on the scan, but there was a large sac that was growing and blood/fluid. The EPU kept asking me to go back every week to 10 days to have hcgs and scans, but told me to stop all meds, so it was very confusing. I didn't miscarry naturally or have any spotting even and they wouldn't make a decision. Eventually (around 10 wks) I became very unwell and ended up in urgent surgery. I know they have to be cautious to make sure it definitely isn't viable and their preference is that if not and not ectopic, that you miscarry naturally, but if you're not sure what their diagnosis was or the next steps please call them and ask. Also if you feel unwell (like get a temperature or dizzy) or you get pains or heavy bleeding, call them or just go to the EPU and ask to be seen. I really hope it works out for you but don't suffer or put yourself at risk because you don't want to cause a fuss x
Sorry to hear that, it sounds similar to what happened to me. It may go on its own or they may ask you to wait and have another scan or two to confirm, but hopefully you'll know more later today. It's a very hard thing to go through though and I hope you have some support. You may also want to factor in some time to rest and recover as after the hcg has been high like that, when the hormones drop it can be a very difficult time x
When your HCG levels go beyond the 1K mark, something should be seen with the scan. So I'm afraid this sounds like an ectopic. With my ectopic, I had emergency surgery when my HCG levels were around 5.5K, I had bleeding and pain (weirdly in my leg rather than in my shoulder).
I'm so sorry you're going through this. It's a serious, life-threatening condition, and I'm now so worried that you are not taken care of in a hospital. Please, stay safe and insist for seeing a consultant ASAP.
Wishing you a speedy recovery. You’re safe that’s the main thing, obviously it’s really upsetting to have lost your tube and the baby. It is very sad and heartbreaking to have gone through this at any time regardless of the time of the year.
