Don't confuse 'DHA' with 'DHEA' like I did!

Happy Sunday morning!

I was doing a little research this morning as I was increasingly bothered by the idea that I had been taking fish oil with EPA and DHA for over a year now and recently read so much on here about what I thought was DHA's negative effect on fertility for some women. However (!) I did not realize I was confusing DHA with DHEA.

DHA is Docosahexaenoic acid, an omega-3 fatty acid. You can get it from fish oil and it is thought to have positive effects on overall health and fertility.

DHEA is Dehydroepiandrosterone and a hormone. Totally different! It is sometimes recommended to help women with decreased ovarian reserve (DOR) and premature ovarian failure (POF).

I found this great article describing the difference healthyeating.sfgate.com/dh...

Heading to my vitamin cupboard to get out my fish oil again 😝
