Cyclogest side effects are driving me crazy

From the moment I started the Cyclogest pessaries, the side effects have been driving me crazy. Just when I'd adjusted to the disgusting mess, the acne started, When I thought that was the worst, along came the bloating.

I'm now nauseous until lunchtime and then just when it's dissipating my stomach starts to inflate like a huge balloon.

I don't want to change medication at this point as I'm nervous to do anything differently. And I only have two weeks more to get through. But, any advice whatsoever would be appreciated right now. Every site I read suggests different things and I'm at a loss!

Should've said, I am 8 weeks pregnant after IVF. I've been pregnant before (which ended at 13 weeks) and the symptoms were nowhere near this bad. They started the moment I started the cyclogest after transfer :-(

Hi there, I am on Cyclogest and the only advice I can give is about the mess.

I put the pessary very high up (almost the length of my index finger sorry for TMI) and lie down for as long as I can, when I manage to do over 1 hour barely anything comes out, even with half hour the discharge is minimal. Hope this helps a little. Congrats on your pregnancy xx

Yeah really wish I'd done that as it seems everything I read says that way is less messy but I'm just to scared to change approach now until I get the 12 week all clear...

Cyclogest is horrid. I make sure I take mine just before breakfast and dinner and that helps.

With the mess, not sure if you would be open but have you tried back bum? 🙈 I don't find it messy at all. Just an idea 😊 xx

It really is horrible isn't it?! I never expected that the worst side effects would be the medication I started after transfer. Really conscious of seeming really ungrateful now we are pregnant but I'm finding this part physically and maybe even mentally the toughest (though 2ww was terrible). Our only other pregnancy ended after anomaly at 12 week scan so I'll be a wreck until then regardless.

Bless you. You don't seem ungrateful at all. Sounds like you're having a rough time. Hoping time to your scan goes swiftly. I can only imagine the anxiety you are feeling. Sending big hugs.

Congrats on your pregnancy. Xxx

It sounds just as likely that you would have these symptoms from pregnancy even without the cyclones. It should hopefully start getting better in the next few weeks, although the indigestion might just keep getting worse....

This is old but I know exactly how you feel. I was constantly in pain and uncomfortable on cyclogest (didn’t use this brand in other cycles) I felt depressed. I stopped them on Friday and instantly feel so much better.

Was this the case for you?

If so you could ask to use Utrogestrone next time as I did with my other cycles. Still messy but I didn’t get the other awful symptoms xxx
