Hello,

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced itchiness down there when on the cyclogest pessaries? If so, what did you do about it?

Thanks!

Yes. Change to back passage. So much easier, no itching, no mess. Good luck xx

Oh ok, thanks. Didn’t know that was an option as clinic just said to insert via vagina. I guess it works via either entrance though!

Both work equally and let me tell

You the back is way better. It does work equally, I am 18 weeks pregnant so know this well. Best of luck to you on your journey 😀

Thank you. I will try it your way, the itching is starting to bother me now and fingers crossed if I get pregnant, I’ll have to keep on them until I’m 12 weeks gone! Best wishes for your continued pregnancy x

Thankyou so much. Yeah I was 12 weeks on them. You will most likely end up with thrush using them front way. You won’t have any issues up the back, much more pleasant (though it doesn’t sound it) I had no side effects back way and haven’t heard of any others. Will keep an eye out for your updates. Best wishes😀

Hi sarahJE. As "Cezza" has mentioned, you could try inserting the pessaries in your back passage if you want, while you're "itchy". If it continues, I would mention it to your GP so he/she can check you for any urine infection or thrush. Hope it soon settles down.

Been using back passage since I messaged on Friday. Definitely less messy and no itching 👍. But now I have had diarrhoea, burning and painful bowel movements 😩 maybe it’s just a coincidence and it’s the progesterone making my tummy off? Anyone else had an upset stomach during the 2WW? It worries me because all the fertility books talk about the importance of good digestion and the impact it has on how things develop.

Should also add that I’ve had a cold (just congested nose) so that may have got into my tummy?

in reply to sarahJE

I never had any issues. Maybe speak you your clinic and ask them as you do need to make sure you are absorbing them. Could be an upset tummy or maybe allergic to the pessaries. They may be able to prescribe different ones to see if that helps .

Thanks Cezza83. The itching I originally had has subsided from changing to back passage, so I will go back to vaginal and see if that improves things at all. If it doesn’t, I will call the clinic right away. It’s not loads of diarrhoea just a bit as I went this morning and a couple of times yesterday. If it was constant I would be much more concerned. Thanks for your advice, will keep a close eye on the situation! X
