It’s my first post here. I’m day 8 of the 2ww following my 3rd IUI. This will be the final IUI - we’re now at the top of the wait list for IVF.
Unlike my previous IUI treatments I’m using progesterone morning & evening. I expected to get a lot of side effects that feel similar to pregnancy, but have only had bloating and tiredness (and feeling very down but who knows if that’s directly related!) I expected to have sore/swollen boobs and I’m worried that I don’t.
I had a MMC last year at 10 weeks so I know what pregnancy boobs feel like and I’m reading so much into the fact that I’m feeling nothing!
I’m driving myself mad. My OH and I promised each other we’d stay hopeful this time but I’m really losing hope already and starting to think IUI has been a waste of money/time.
Any other people had minimal side effects but a good result? Any IUI success stories? Have been looking but I can’t see many!
Thanks and best wishes to all the other warrior women battling these tough times xxx

Hi London_Em. Not everyone gets side effects, either from treatment or medicaion. Just do what you've been instructed to and I'll keep everything crossed for you. Diane
I didn’t have any side effects from cyclogest apart from feeling a bit tired and I didn’t have any symptoms until after I had missed my period and got a BFP. I still don’t have sore boobs and I’m 19 weeks pregnant and I took progesterone till week 16. Even if you had certain symptoms before doesn’t mean you will have them again. Good luck xxx
I had all the symptoms. Sore big boobs, tiredness, bloating, tingling boobs. But had BFN . So side effects really don't mean a thing. Some have side effects, some don't. Some bleed, some don't.
Try to relax (hard i know!) But everyone is different. Even the same person can have different symptoms each time.
I'm on my third transfer ( next week) and I've felt different each time, even with same meds. Best of luck and fingers crossed x
Thanks Tracey. It can mess with your head so much can’t it, trying to decode symptoms and lack of symptoms. Wishing you loads of luck with your 3rd transfer. X
I had all the symptoms most of the time from 5dp5dt, then none the next..I am now 13 weeks amd still it's the same thing including bleeding each week so....I wouldn't worry at all tbh, just keep taking it as instructed. We are all different and I know what it's like to be at panic stations!! Fingers crossed for you xx 😘
Hi London_Em, so sorry to read about your difficulties so far. Getting pregnant is not an exact science and so many variables can be tiny but tilt it in the wrong direction. Its definately a good thing you are now having progesterone morning and evening ( ideally you want to be taking 400mg x 2 pesseries daily ( the optimal dosage) Have you had a tube patency check. I pressed my consultant for one after my second failed IUI. Luckily the right side was clear however the left showed some signs of scar tissue although because the test showed the liquid going around ovary it was deemed patent! I already knew about some small endometrial cysts on the left side only. Anyway the third cycle after that i fell pregnant ( non of my iui's were triggered with ovulation drugs as i ovulate naturally) however no heartbeat was found at 7 week scan. So i understand the pain and yours was that bit further on almost to the trimester 1 finish line I would move on as fast as you can to IVF the rates had i known now what i know i would never have started IUI its something like 15% chance and thats if you have good fertility and are below 35 years old with high sperm counts. My first IVF was a success i am now mum to a 21 month old little boy. ( he was an FET first transfer as i had OHSS so fresh transfer was abandoned. I am now 16 weeks pregnant with my second egg from the same cycle ( FET) I couldn't believe but so far baby has been growing well. I hope you have success with your IVF. They can look at the embryo quality which can tell them a lot more than IUI as its simply that egg you release that month or two! With ivf theres more to play with. It only takes one!. Wishing you all the success it will happen! Believe in your body xx
Thank you so much for your reply. I’m so sorry that your IUI ended in heartbreak but very happy to read about your success with IVF ☺️ I’ve had my tubes checked, yep. No signs of any tangible issue with me or my OH. Fingers crossed our time will come soon, thanks again, and all the best with your pregnancy xxx
