I'm new here and looking for emotional support and maybe advice. I've always had long cycles (30-35 days) but they get longer and more and more irregular...Sometimes it happens that it skips a month.
I've been also dealing with severe hair loss for more or less two years and that's also the time I've been trying to conceive.. .Recently I have hot flashes at night or during the day (no matter the outside temperature). My body is like on fire, I'm laying in my own sweat, it's nasty. I'm anxious about a possible primary ovarian failure? Anyone here with a familiar story? I'm 32, btw.
Thanks xx

Hi sorry to hear you're feeling anxious. Have you had any tests or fertility investigations to check your hormones or whether you are ovulating? That might be a good first step.
Just to share my story, I began skipping periods a few years ago, I was having a cycle length of 60 days or so. My blood tests showed that I had high prolactin which was stopping me ovulating regularly, I was prescribed medication to lower prolactin levels and my cycles went back to being 30 days regular. So it was something that was quite simple to fix.
Blood tests can also show up problems with other hormones like thyroid (I think that can cause hair loss) which they can give you treatment for to normalize levels.
I would say a good first step might be to see your GP so they can check how all your hormones are working xx
thanks for responding. My GP only ordered me to do a blood test for estrogen and progesterone which resulted fine. I'll definitely ask for a more profound analysis since this doesn't add up at all. Feels like there's more to it.
Regarding your questions about fertility investigations- I went to my gyn for a physical exam and a pap-smear since I freaked out about my irregular periods, it was all fine, he just told me that I wasn't ovulating every month which makes it more difficult for me to get pregnant. xx
Hi Fertilityfatale. So sorry to hear that your cycles are all over the place just now. If you haven't done so, you need to see your GP with regards to getting your hormone profile checked out, including your thyroxine levels. Hopefully just all down to a hormonal imbalance, and not early menopause symptoms. If you are trying for a baby, then perhaps it will be time for a referral to a fertility specialist, or an endocrinologist if not, to look into your hormones more thoroughly. Just my thoughts of course, but whatever you decide to do, I wish you well and hope you can soon be regulated again.
I have/had very similar sounding issues. Found out I have autoimmune thyroid condition that caused my periods to stop. As Diane said above, make sure to get a Thyroid panel done, including thyroid antibodies. That’s how mine was picked up.
Good luck
Xx
Hi. Your symptoms are like mine apart from that im usually cold with some occasional hotflash. Even clomid didnt do the trick for me so was labelled unexplained. Only thing they found out that my thyroid is under-active. Xx
