I think I am having a miscarriage

Hello there,

I think I am having a miscarriage. Was diagnosed with endo and had surgery for it, was waiting for another procedure to diagnose and treat adenomyosis but COVID came and that has been postponed. I was also referred to fertility but is also closed and I have a lot of weight to lose and am 40. I conceived naturally and today would have been week 5 but I started having cramps and back pain yesterday with bleeding which wasn’t too heavy. This morning I am still bleeding with blood clots and have diarrhoea. I’ve wanted this baby so badly. Am I having a miscarriage?

If you are the UK call the community midwife and see if you can get a referral to the early pregnancy unit. They will do an internal scan to see if there’s a foetus.

I really hope you are okay and fingers crossed it’s just some bad symptoms. However, it does sound similar to my miscarriage.

I miscarried at roughly 6 weeks. I started having spotting which developed to heavy, period-like bleeding after 4 days. On day 6 of bleeding I had really bad cramps (so painful that I had to lay down, and sharp back pain). I started to pass clots roughly the size of a 50p.

I got referred to the early pregnancy unit when I had the heavy bleeding but no cramps. It wasn’t until the following day and had the painful cramps that evening.

They did an external scan (I could’ve been up to 10 weeks along) and then and internal. Neither scan showed a foetus but a urine test still come back positive. At this stage they say it’s a ‘pregnancy of unknown location’. They will be concerned about Ectopic pregnancy at this stage.

They will take a blood test and then one again in 2 days to see if the Hcg drops. They told me the hormone levels on the first and second test had halved which confirmed a miscarriage

Hope it goes positively for you x x

Good luck x

I obviously can't answer the question but just wanted to say I have Stage 4 Endo. I had 2 miscarriages after conceiving naturally and had no cramps with those. I had a successful pregnancy with cramps and back pain pretty much throughout... I didn't have any bleeding but have seen many people on here thinking it's game over to go on to have their babies. Maybe try getting referred to the EPU... Mine didn't offer scans before 6 weeks though. Sending you love and best wishes. xx
