Feeling low after 1st monitoring scan

They are monitoring my cycle at the clinic with scans and blood tests, and today I had my first scan. I am meant to start Clomid in my next cycle. I have Pcos and my cycle length can vary, I had a period each month but it’s not 28 days, some months is shorter and some months is longer. I am not sure what they were supposed to see with this scan today? It was literally a 2 minute scan (but, of course, very expensive) and all they said is that I have Pcos (thanks, I knew) and that the follicles look all the same, I guess there were meant to see if one of them was growing ready for ovulation. They said they will call me to see if I have to go back this week for another scan or take ovulation tests at home. Honestly I don’t see the point of going back. I understand once I am taking Clomid they need to see if it’s working, in that case I have to get organised with work and go more often. But I honestly don’t see the point of goung now, I know I do not ovulate otherwise I wouldn’t be there. I feel like it’s not a good start.

Hi FrancyItaly. I can fully understand how irritating all this is for you, but I suppose they have to start somewhere - hence the scan(s), I don't know, but I would have thought that theyo would start you on the Clomid and scan you to see whether it produces any results. This would probably just be done for one cycle to ensure you are on the correct dose of the medication. Just hope it all works for you. Thinking of you. Diane

Hi Diane, I had loads of scans and blood tests on day 3 in the last few months, including recent ones in May with Nhs. Luckily they called and said that I don’t have to go back this week for a scan, but only do ovulation tests at home and go in for bloods at some point. Hopefully they will be able to decide on what dose I should be based on the blood tests I had with Nhs in May and with the clinic last week. Thank your for your message x

I know some days it can feel pointless, but don't give up! Maybe your clinic needs to give you more information on what they're doing so that you can be in the loop and able to ask questions. Here for you. x

Thank you so much. It’s frustrating when I miss their calls and they leave a voicemail. Their phone lines are always closed, I am left with many questions and I have to wait for them to call back 😕 but anyway, I guess it’s all part of the journey xxx

All part of this horrible journey. It shouldn't have to be, but it currently is for some (me too). Get information from your clinic when you can as being informed will help you feel more in control and hopefully more positive. It's sad that some clinics aren't being more sensitive and helpful, especially at this difficult time. x

I know, I guess I made a mistake and next time I’ll ask the questions. I just don’t get why keeping the phone lines closed?! The clinic opened ages ago.. I’ll have to ask xxx

Mine also has their phone lines closed! Drives me crazy. It's all on their terms!
