Never posted before but been reading everyone's posts on here for a while.
My husband and I have trying to conceive for a good few years now (unexplained infertility) We've just started our 2nd round of IVF and we were both upbeat to discover I had 19 follicles at my baseline scan (compared to 9 in our 1st round). Today I had my first monitoring scan after being on Menopur and Cetrorelix. Today I only had 9 follicles. The nurse seemed happy enough with everything but can't help but feel disappointed that some of my follicles haven't responded. We had a low egg to follicle rate last round (5 eggs to 11 follicles) which is why we switched from gonal f to Menopur. Was hoping for a better outcome this round but it's not looking likely. Has anyone else felt this way after scans? I thought I was doing all the right things by trying to reduce stress levels, up my exercise before this round, get more vitamin d, more supplements etc.

Try not to let it get you down. 9 is a great number. Hopefully they mostly contain eggs. Maybe I was naive but I only had 4 follicles (and 4 eggs) but I was really pleased. And I'm a mummy from that cycle.
Concentrate on keeping your body healthy and ready, and your mind calm and optimistic. Wishing you every success!
Thanks for both of your replies. I think if it had been 9 follicles from the start again I would have been ok. Just disappointing at the first hurdle to lose 10 follicles, especially when you know there's always drop-off every stage along the way.
I've been taking coQ10 for a few months which I didn't do last cycle. Also taking Pregnacare, Omega 3 and vitamin E. Was scared to try DHEA.
During our first round, I had 2 transfers. The first was unsuccessful. The second was successful but unfortunately I miscarried about 6-7weeks.
I guess just hoping for a better outcome this time (like all of us!)
Hi Tinytim, try not to worry too much about the numbers - you say they have put you on a different protocol this time? If they changed your medicines because of the low follicle to egg ratio you had last time they may be trying something to improve this, so maybe each of those follicles will have a nice size egg in it 😊 I guess first cycles are like a trial run as no one can predict 100% how your body will respond, but based on the first round they can make improvements for the next time. My fingers are crossed for you 😊 xx
Hi,
My numbers weren't great neither... First fresh cycle only got one blastocyst after 6 eggs removed... They did similar changes to yours and got 10 eggs and 3 blastos the second time. We tried with the first and am now pregnant, so try not to overthink the numbers. Keeping everything crossed for you xxx
Hi. I only did one round of stims, with menopur. I understand it is meant more for quality than quantity. I have 1 ovary and had 6 follicles at the initial scan before the stims. Then there were only 5, with 2-3 of them below needed size at the following scans. They increased my menopur dose and at the end all 5 follicles were big enough and all had mature eggs, 4 fertilized, 2 made it to 5 day blastocysts, 1 was transferred (fresh) and I am now 19 weeks pregnant.
