1st scan after 1 week of stims - disappointed

So I had my first scan after 1 week of stimulation. 150 final f and 150 menopur. I am still at the hospital waiting for my next meds 300 menopur a day and am fighting back tears. After a week of stimulation only 1 follicle growth was recorded at 14mm. They say try the menopur and see if the others will grow. Have next appointment on Monday. I dont know if the others will catch up to the 14mm one by Monday. The 14mm will probably be 16mm by Monday. I am devastated. How can I go on this journey to rely on one egg g to mature, one egg to fertilise, one egg to implant , one egg to make it. This journey is a lot!

Hi Bernie I have been where you are and know how frustrating this is. Have you been on a mixture of FSH drugs before? The reason I ask is my clinic only allowed me to use 1 and it was obvious I had a better response from Gonal F.

Please don’t give up hope, see how the next scan goes,even if you have one more measurable follicle this is still good. Am 44 and my recent IVF cycle I was on 300iu of Gonal f which resulted in only 2 measurable follicles by scan 2 and no growth from anymore. We went ahead and collected 2 mature eggs, I lay there crying thinking this is just awful. I ended up with only 1 embryo viable for transfer BUT it was Top Grade.

Sometimes it is quality over quantity.

Am now 18 weeks pregnant..... so am proof it really does only take 1 golden egg.

Thank you this gives me hope. They have put me off gonal f and increased my menopur to 300. Congratulations on your pregnancy. Will update how I get on on Monday xx

Great, after having been through it 7 times it was clear I had a better response to Gonal f. It may be you have a better response to Menopur..... But if not don’t be afraid to query it and fight for them to replace the cycle and get you on the drug you feel is best for you 😘
