FET - Day 3 or Day 5 embryos

Hi All, need some advice..

I have done egg collection - for Frozen embryo transfer - finally we had total of 4 embryos :

- 2 (day 3 embryo) and

- 1 (day 5 blast) and (1 day 7 blast)

Dr gave us few suggestions - day 3 embryo looks like the best ones, so we can let to be cultured to day 5 blast and transfer that, or just transfer day 3 embryo, or transfer the current day 5/7 blastocyst.

I personally would not take the risk to culture the day 3 as they might not survive to day 5. Xx

So I would just transfer the day 3 one by one.

doc suggesting 2 day 3 embryo transfer at once.. as age factor too..

I personally would culture the day 3 embryos to blasts. If they can’t make it to blastocyst stage in the lab then they wouldn’t have made a healthy baby so I think it saves disappointment and cost/time of transferring embryos that never would have worked xx

since we have 1 day 5 blast.. might plan to go with that 1st.. fingers crossed..

I agree with kiboXX I would culture them to blast. She is absolutely right if they dont make it to day 5 or 6 they would never become a baby and yes it could save alot of tears, time and money. Or I would transfer the day 5..might not be the best quality but if it made it to day 5 it's got every chance. I would transfer the day 7 last. Best of luck to you whatever you decide xxx

yup agree too dear.. firstly considering day 5 blast.. but the doc suggested day 3 embryo as they were the better quality.. but then he said up to us to decide.. nothing is bad try..

Hi Lolitaa, I would go for whichever embryo your clinic thinks has the best chance, they are the experts. I had a day 6 embryo transferred and am currently 12 weeks pregnant. Wishing you all the luck in the world, I hope you get a positive result whatever you decide. Take care. X

wow.. congratzz on your pregnancy dear.. n thank you for the wishes..

From experience i would go with a day 5 blastocyst. If the embryo is not strong enough to continue to blastocyst it might be pointless putting it in because it wont make it to a baby. i did a day 6 blastocyst with pgs testing. It was a fresh transfer and im currently 13weeks pregnant. This was after having only 3 eggs collected and having experience 2 miscarriages and 1 ectopic pregnancy naturally we decided to do ivf and we were so fortunate it worked ths 1st time around.

I might be controversial but I personally do not believe that an embryo that does not survive to day 5 cannot result in a healthy baby in any event.

yup.. no one really can really guarantee the outcome result whether day 3 or day 5.. just some luck there too..

Hi Hun. I had a day 3 embryo transfer and I have a 12 day old baby in my arms. Go with what the professionals say. They are the pro’s. Good luck my lovely xx
